Sicario
Sicario (2015)
Probably the most popular and successful movie written by Sheridan is Sicario, in which an idealist FBI agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) joins a government task force with members of the CIA to bring down a powerful leader of a Mexican drug cartel. The other major cast members of the movie include Josh Brolin, a CIA officer, Benicio del Toro, a Mexican assassin, and Daniel Kaluuya, Kate’s partner at the FBI.
The movie was nominated for 3 Oscars and 3 Baftas and currently has a score of 92% on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. This movie is definitely one of the best Taylor Sheridan projects.
Sons of Anarchy
Taylor Sheridan as David Hale in Sons of Anarchy (2008-2014)
Sons of Anarchy, unlike other projects in this article, was not written by Sheridan. Instead, he played a character named David Hale in Seasons 1 to 3 of the series. Hale was the Deputy Chief of Police in a small town. He was nicknamed Captain America for his strict adherence to law and commitment to doing what is right.
The show was, definitely still is, one of the most popular American shows ever made. It continued for 7 seasons.
Wind River
Wind River (2017)
Another successful movie written by Sheridan is Wind River, a movie about the investigations into a murder committed on the Wind River Indian Reservation. The film sees Jeremy Renner as Cory Lambert and Elizabeth Olsen as Jane Banner, a pair from different parts of government service teaming up to solve the murder.
Wind River did pretty well at the box office and received positive reviews from critics. It has an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Hell or High Water
Hell or High Water (2016)
A movie that was nominated for 4 Oscars, including Best Picture, Hell or High Water is one of the biggest projects written by Sheridan. It is about 2 brothers, played by Chris Pine and Ben Foster, who repeatedly rob banks to come up with the money that will save their family ranch. The brothers, however, are being pursued by 2 Texas Rangers, played by Jeff Bridges and Gil Birmingham.
Hell or High Water is the Sheridan project that received the most critical acclaim, receiving a score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Yellowstone
Yellowstone (2018- )
One of the most-talked-about series of recent years, Yellowstone is created by Sheridan. It did not only become a series that is successful by itself, it also paved the way for 3 more spinoffs that take place in the same universe, namely 1883, 1932, and 6666. The show is basically about the Dutton family, who owns a ranch in Montana, and their fight against others who try to take their lands.
Going on since 2018, the show has 4 seasons and is already renewed for a 5th season that will most likely come out towards the end of 2022. Yellowstone has an 82% approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes.

1883
1883 (2021- )
The 1st spinoff of Yellowstone is 1883, which is also created by Sheridan. The series follows the migration of the Dutton family, 185 years before the present time, into Montana where they establish the Yellowstone ranch. The series includes some stellar performances by Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Isabel May.
Mayor of Kingstown
Mayor of Kingstown (2021- )
Mayor of Kingstown is a recent tv series co-created by Sheridan and Hugh Dillon. The show’s 1st season came out last year and it was renewed for a 2nd season in February 2022. The series follows the McLusky family who runs Kingstown. The show tackles issues like systematic racism, inequality, and corruption.
6666
6666 (Upcoming)
6666 is an upcoming Taylor Sheridan project that is another spinoff of Yellowstone. Unlike the other 2 spinoffs, this one will be set in the present day. The story will take place in the Four Sixes Ranch (6666) which was recently bought by Sheridan and a group of buyers. The show is expected to premiere in early 2023.
