We watch them as they navigate their way through puberty with struggles like sexual arousals and masturbation all around in the Westchester County suburbs of New York. Maurice, Connie, and Mona act as the over-sexualized shoulder angels, who tease Andrew and Matthew, and occasionally Nick. The kids interact with people and objects throughout the series.

Is Big Mouth for kids?
Big Mouth is a coming-of-age series, where middle school students find their sexuality through relationships, masturbation, and some other stuff as well. They handle these situations, -important situations- with great humor. However, it’s said to be an “adult animated coming-of-age sitcom”.
If you would check the show’s IMDb page, you would see that the parent’s guide states, that all around the world where the show airs, the age limit varies from 16 to 18. The controversy on this topic is very different from person to person. But the show gets mainly positive feedback from parents/viewers. Most say that it is a great representation of life in middle school, through the eyes of the middle schoolers themselves. On the other hand, there’s nudity and adult language involved in the show as well.
According to our research, the show is suitable for viewers aged 16 and up. Any viewers younger than that should watch the show under a parental guide.
Is Big Mouth based on a true story?
Big Mouth’s creative team has a number of names. One of those names is Nick Kroll, the American actor, who voices Nick throughout the series. He says that the idea came to him after an eczema outbreak. He has suffered from eczema since his youth. After writing some jokes about it for a stand-up act, he showed them to a friend and he told him to dig deeper, and that he was up to something much bigger.
He then found the resemblance of his eczema to his puberty, not having full control over his body just like when he was 12-13 years old again. Then came Andrew Goldberg, who along with Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett, pitched Kroll the idea for Big Mouth! The character Nick is loosely based on Nick Kroll and it’s both a story of Kroll’s upbringing, and the modern puberty experience smashed together! Big Mouth Season 6 is coming to Netflix around October 2022! You can catch all other episodes on the streaming service as well!
