The Cuphead Show!, an animated slapstick comedy TV series, came into our lives on February 18, 2022, with its 1st season consisting of 12 episodes. Although the show was criticized for its short episodes (around 15 minutes each) and lack of good writing, it was still praised for its impressive visuals. Not much later, now on August 19, the show’s 2nd season with 13 episodes, dropped on Netflix. This time around, the new season has only 2 episodes that are longer than the ones in Season 1 (ep. 3 is 26 minutes and ep. 8 is 19 minutes), while the length of a few other episodes decreased to 11-12 minutes.
The show is about 2 brothers, Cuphead and Mugman, who discover that the Devil has a plot to steal souls through a skeeball game at a local carnival. The impulsive Cuphead is playing the game and loses his soul as a result of losing the game, but his brother is always by his side, trying to protect him no matter what.
So, what about a 3rd season, we should be asking. Will there be a The Cuphead Show Season 3 where the constant struggles of Cuphead and Mugman against the Devil continue? Scroll below to find out.
The Cuphead Show Season 3 Release Date
When in 2019, Netflix greenlit the series, the number of episodes or seasons were provided neither by the company nor the creators. Before the arrival of the 1st season, however, we heard that Netflix ordered a total of 37 episodes for the series. In Season 1, there were 12, and in Season 2, there were 13 episodes, which means 12 more episodes will be released in Season 3.
The official release date of the 3rd season is uncertain at the moment, but if we look at the time between the release of the 1st and the subsequent season, we can say that there are at least 6 months before Season 3 is released. We think The Cuphead Show Season 3 release date could very well be February 2023.

Is The Cuphead Show kid friendly?
The basic answer to this question is yes. The series is mainly aimed at young audiences, especially children. It is rated TV-Y7, which means it is suitable for kids above 7. While the showrunners Chad and Jared Moldenhauer said that the series is appropriate for kids, they also pointed out that it is suitable for adult viewers as well. Also, the episodes don’t blend into the others, so children will have no problems following the storyline.
Despite all this, one should also not forget that this is a slapstick comedy, meaning there is a lot of animated violence. Some characters are also rude in certain scenes, while some are pure evil, such as the Devil character. Nonetheless, the show doesn’t have sexual content, so we think, overall, it is suitable for children over 7.
What is the Cuphead Show based on?
As many of the show’s fans know, the series is based on a Canadian video game called Cuphead, developed and published by Studio MDHR. The game’s creators are the Moldenhauer brothers, who we mentioned above. They serve as the series’ executive producers. The game follows brothers Cuphead and Mugman, who collect the souls acquired by the Devil. As the game progresses, the protagonist acquires more powers and abilities, thus becoming stronger to threaten the Devil himself directly.
