Since The first day of its release date four years ago, Yellowstone has never failed us, as the series continued to come up with high-quality episodes one after the another with Yellowstone Season 4 being arguably the best one so far. At first, we were a little bit skeptical, as Western was a genre that already reached its perfection with names such as Clint Eastwood and John Wayne.
However, this perfection was reached within the movies, while the TV screen was still waiting for an ideal production to come and surprise us all. When we heard of Kevin Costner being cast as the leading character in the series, our hopes escalated: Could Yellowstone be the one that we have been waiting for so long as the Western lovers? Well, we were right in getting excited.
The series not only has proved that Western concepts work on TV as well, but also showed that they can be better than any other contemporary production, attracting not only the Western-enthusiast but everyone around the world. The upcoming seasons of the show only strengthened this position even more, as we all became obsessed with it. Arguably, the 4th season of the show, which is on air right now, is the best of Yellowstone so far. Well, we know that it is a bold idea, but let’s look at the figures first.
Yellowstone Season 4 Statistics
According to the statistics, the premiere episode of Yellowstone Season 4 attracted a total of 14.7million viewers, which is huge. The number makes Yellowstone the number 1 series not only on cable but on TV in general, from broadcast to premiere networks. When it comes to cable alone, this number also breaks the record of Walking Date Season 8 premiere back in 2017.
Season 4’s record-breaking number is 58% higher than the previous season of the show as well. The season 3 premiere of Yellowstone was watched by 9.3 million people, which was still great, but not as great as Season 4. On Paramount Network alone,10.5 million people watched the Season 4 premiere, while the Season 3 premiere was watched by only 6.5 million people. When it comes to overall ratings, the show has reportedly increased its ratings up to 64% since the last season.
Masterminds Behind Yellowstone
These numbers alone prove that we are witnessing something special. Yellowstone is making television history as we are watching it. Who is behind this success though? How can the show be this amazing? Well, the show is created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. The executive producers are John Linson, Art Linson, Taylor Sheridan, Kevin Costner, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, and Stephen Kay. All of these names are TV veterans who know what they are doing.
The cast of the series is yet another powerhouse that makes the show the way it is. It consists of names such as Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Finn Little, Ryan Bingham, and Gil Birmingham with Will Patton.
Although all these hint us the secret behind Yellowstone Season 4, we need to look at the lotto figure of what attracted the audience in the first place. Well, Season 4 continued where Season 3 left. In the Season3 finale, we saw that John, Beth, and Kayce Dutton got simultaneously attacked by an unknown militia. Each one of the attacks was unique and brutal, and the episode failed to show us who survived and who did not. So, until the Season 4 release – which took place more than a year after the Season 3 finale – we, as the fans, speculated on what will happen next and which of the Duttons will manage to survive.
The long interval increased our excitement for the show. We could not wait for the new season to hit the Paramount Network. We also need to remember that the world had gone through a difficult period at the time, forcing everybody to stay at home. This gave many of us a lot of time to discover Yellowstone, and become obsessed with the show. Naturally, when Season 4 premiered, we were ready in front of our screens, waiting for our questions to be answered.
Is Yellowstone Season 4 good?
While most shows build the hype up but often fail in delivering the promised premise, Yellowstone did not fail to fulfill our expectations. Season 4 started strong, as we watched Duttons rising from the ashes. The upcoming episodes were even better, as new characters were introduced to the series with new, exciting plots. The tension between the Duttons and their estranged son Jamie alone was enough to hook us in.
Even though the previous episodes of the show were also very intriguing, there have never been such intense tension and mystery in the show. This time, the stakes are very high for the Duttons, as the attacks were highly personal and they have no mercy for their enemies, even if they are led by Jamie.
However, we are not sure if Jamie is ready to go against his biological father, even if the well-being of the Duttons is concerned. That is to say, although it’s been a while since Season 4 wrapped up, our excitement for the next season continues thanks to the multiple twists and turns of the plot. And yes, in our opinion, this makes Season 4 the best season of Yellowstone so far.
