What is your favorite show of this year? Let us guess. Is it Yellowstone? Well, wasn’t it Yellowstone for the past four years as well? Don’t worry, we get you perfectly since our feelings are mutual on this amazing show. It is one of the most honest, most ethnically ambiguous, most challenging shows out there, and we appreciate everything about it while waiting for 6666 to have the same qualities as well.
We believe that Yellowstone is great at valuing the Western aesthetic and giving it the importance that it deserves. Let’s be honest: it’s been decades since the Westerns got the hype they deserve. Therefore, Yellowstone has a special place in our hearts since it brought the glory days of the genre back. Naturally, everybody loves Yellowstone and could not get enough of it. It seems like the creator of the show, Taylor Sheridan, is also aware of the situation since he lost no time working on two spin-offs of the show simultaneously. In this video, we will focus on 6666, which, in our opinion, will be a perfect rival for Yellowstone.
What is Yellowstone about?
But first, let’s remember what Yellowstone was about. Yellowstone is taking place in Montana and focuses on one of the wealthiest rancher families in the state: The Duttons. Duttons are not like any typical family. It wouldn’t be so wrong to call them dysfunctional. But we are not blaming them for being that way, since the conditions that they are living in require extreme measures, as well as extreme family bonds. John is the patriarch of the family and is the type of guy who is either loved or hated. Therefore, he has lots of admirers, but also lots of enemies.
The issue with John is that he values his ranch more than anything, which is both a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing because this makes him successful. However, it is a curse because this makes him a questionable father figure. Beth is the daughter of John, who is kinda unpredictable, to say the least. She is smart, beautiful, ambitious, cunning but also very imbalanced, which makes her a force to be reckoned with. Kayce is the first son of John, who is a good man with strong loyalty towards his family, which makes him do questionable things. Still, compared to John and Beth, he is an angel.
Jamie, who is the adopted son of John, is the outlier of the Dutton clan as he prefers order to the chaos and often takes steps for his interests rather than the interest of Yellowstone. Now, as you can see, Sheridan is a mastermind when it comes to creating unique and interesting characters. Naturally, our hopes are quite high for 6666 as well, which will probably have even more anti-heroes than Yellowstone.
Where is 6666 filmed?
6666 takes place in the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas. The ranch is a real one that has been active since the 19th century. It is one of the biggest ranches in the world and has no interest in being out of business soon. Sheridan recently bought the 6666 ranch, and immediately decided to make the ranch known worldwide. Thus, we can confidently say that 6666 will have some documentary-style aesthetic as well since it will reflect the ranch life as it is.
What is 6666 about?
That being said, it will still be solely fiction when it comes to the events at the ranch. The official premise of the show says the following: “Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing…
The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world-class cowboys are born and made.” This premise hints to us that we are about to watch something very raw, but also over the top at the same time since nothing in Texas seems to be moderate.
Will Jimmy be in 6666?
Throughout Yellowstone Season 4, we had glimpsed what 6666 will be like since we get to watch Jimmy’s journey through Texas. Well, yes, you guessed it right: Jimmy will be the protagonist of 6666, which is great since he was one of the most beloved characters of Yellowstone. Unfortunately. Yellowstone did not bring him much happiness, and he immediately lost the small happiness he got. He was trying to be a cowboy, but he failed.
He was in a relationship with Mia, but he broke her heart. In other words, Jimmy was more than ready to start over, and 6666 seems like a great place for new beginnings. And yet, it is also one of the toughest places to survive. So far, Jimmy did not have many pleasing encounters in Texas, as many people warned him about the difficulties of the conditions in 6666. Still, last week, he met with a girl, who seemed very interested in him. We feel like this can be a turning point in Jimmy’s fate, and he can finally reach the point he deserves to be in life.
6666 Release Date
There is still no definite date on when 6666 will be released. We are expecting it to premiere right after Yellowstone Season 4 wraps up. It will probably be available on Paramount Network, just like Yellowstone. We expect the show to have many crossover episodes with Yellowstone since there is a high chance that multiple characters from Montana will find themselves in Texas regularly. Therefore, it will be a lot of fun to have something from the Yellowstone universe to watch almost throughout the year.
