In 1899, a migrant vessel sails west to depart from the ancient continent, and the passengers are a diverse group of Europeans connected by their aspirations and goals for their future. They discover something that will make their journey a terrifying nightmare.
The producers teased a little more in a conversation during Netflix Geeked Week Special 1899, and said that it was critical to be faithful to the languages and cultures, and they were aware of this when producing the new show. They also said they never intended to have characters from various nations, but everyone speaks English in the show, however, their plans were different.
