Underworld 6 Release Date, Trailer – Is it canceled?

We haven’t seen the Underworld series coming back to screens since 2017’s, and now there are rumors about an Underworld 6 movie.

Everybody knows the conflict between vampires and werewolves, and we see that contest presented in an effective way in the Underworld series. Even though we expect the same for Underworld 6, the future of the movie is not certain.

The movies center around the most famous and we got to watch them first on the big screen in 2003’s Underworld. Although the movie received some bad critics, it did not stop us and all the other fans of vampires vs werewolves to go to the theater and watch it and as a result, it proved to be a massive box office success with its $22 million production budget.

Perhaps, more shockingly, other movie makers did not realize the fact that people actually wanted to watch some corny vampire vs vampire movie on a low budget.

Will there be another Underworld movie?

Co-creator Len Wiseman was on the side of the fans and according to an interview, he discussed developing an Underworld 6 immediately after the release of the last movie. However, it was rumored that Kate Beckinsale was first to make a claim of she was willing to return, but later changed her mind.

It looks like it was a true rumor because Kate Beckinsale openly said that she would not be taking part in Underworld anymore in a 2018 interview. Wiseman also started the rumors about an Underworld TV series, but it, too, stayed on the air. So, it looks like it will take a long while for us to watch Underworld 6, but it will probably not ever going to happen. Even if it did, fans who are waiting for Underworld 6 should not expect to see Kate Beckinsale among the cast members.

New Underworld Movie Plot

Fans may recall that the last Underworld movie concluded with huge events and left all of us shocked, especially when Selene completed an ancient ceremony that revived her with all-new abilities that made her stronger. Even more, we watched how Selene’s werewolf love Michael Corvin was slain by Lycan villain Marius. Selene was promoted to vampire elders with her new powers and later she found her lost daughter.

Given the ending of the last movie, a potential Underworld 6 might investigate whether Michael is truly dead or not, because it was not clear at all. Another possible plot might explore Selene’s new life since she has gained new powers, a position among her people, and got her daughter back.

But the problem is, it is not possible for an Underworld 6 movie to be produced without Kate Beckinsale portraying the famous Selene. If Beckinsale refuses to return, it wouldn’t be possible for Underworld 6 to return because Beckinsale’s portrayal of Selene is too legendary among fans. We remember how fans got furious when Michael was recast when Scott Speedman refused to take part in the movie, and we are almost sure the producers will get the same reaction if it happens again.

Considering this, if Underworld 6 was to happen, it would focus on new characters rather than the old ones.

In the 5th movie, Kate Beckinsale and Theo James, who initially appeared in the franchise for the 1st ever movie of Underworld reprised their roles as Selene and her ally David. Charles Dance from the cast of Game of Thrones was another actor we saw on that movie. However, as we have explained above, it looks not possible to see Beckinsale again for Underworld 6.

Charles Dance got his role back as David’s father in the 5th movie, and he was not the only Game of Thrones cast member who took part in the cast. Tobias Menzies was the new Lycan commander, while we also get the chance to watch James Faulkner.

Another familiar name is Lara Pulver from Sherlock and she belonged to the team of vampires. Bradley James from Merlin and Peter Andersson from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo were also in the cast of the 5th movie.

Our speculations are that if a new movie were to release, we wouldn’t expect to see the same names because of the unwillingness of the actress Kate Beckinsale.
