The multi-award winning crime drama TV series Ozark Season 4 Part 1 was released on Netflix on January 21, 2022 and we’ve already watched it through in one go and were on the edge of our seats. It ended with a stunning cliffhanger that made the fan community speculate a lot about the 2nd part, as most of the viewers’ questions remained unanswered. Therefore, in this article we’ll deal with the ending of Ozark Season 4 Part 1.
Since its initial broadcast in 2017, the Netflix hit series Ozark has followed Marty Byrde and his family as they get into trouble with a Mexican cartel and move to the Ozarks in Missouri. The series offers viewers a visual treat of the Ozarks in addition to a compelling storyline. Season 4 is as hectic as ever, but that gradually changes as the series nears its conclusion.
Ozark Season 4 Part 1 Ending Explained
Ozark Season 4 Part 1 opens with a flashback in which the Byrdes have a terrible car accident while moving back to Chicago, leading us to speculate about the 2nd part of the series. Will the Byrdes end up in a car accident? After all the trouble they’ve been through, that wouldn’t be a convincing ending, would it? Anyway, we now return to reality, where the family still has quite a few problems to solve.
In “Sanctified,” the final episode of Ozark Season 4 Part 1, Wyatt tells Ruth that he can’t join her in the Ozarks because he wants to marry Darlene so she can keep custody of Zeke. This, of course, disappoints Ruth and leaves her to handle the business alone.

Unfortunately, though, Wyatt and Darlene die tragically in the final episode. Darlene was shot in the chest, while Wyatt was shot in the head. Wyatt’s death is probably the most tragic event in Season 4 thus far, and Ruth subsequently storms the Byrdes’ house in search of answers. Marty and Wendy, however, remain tight-lipped about Wyatt’s death. As a consequence, Jonah is the one who tells her that Javier Elizonndro killed Wyatt. Ruth’s sadness and sorrow are obvious when she learns of her cousin’s death. Ruth’s anger at Javier seems to be something we’ll see more of in the 2nd half of the series.
Marty and Wendy are still alive at the end of Part 1, by the way. However, it can’t be said that they’re completely risk-free. Both their boss, who wants to be released from prison in 48 hours, and Javier, who’ll stop at nothing, threaten them with death. That’s why most fans believe that Marty is only living on borrowed time. Season 4 Part 2 will reveal the fate of the Byrdes.
What do you think will happen in Part 2? Do you think the Byrdes will have a good ending? What about Ruth? Will she get her revenge on Javier? How do you think the series will end? We eagerly await Part 2 to get all the answers. Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
