She tries to take on her first case by claiming her father is still alive and asks for help from his father’s old protégé, Detective William Wellington, also known as The Duke, and the con man Moses. In Episode 2, “The Woman in Red,” Eliza takes on a seemingly impossible case. She has to prove the innocence of a man who is found at the crime scene with a knife in his hand and who has already confessed that he is guilty. Miss Scarlet and the Duke Episode 3 is about a historical political organization, women’s suffrage. Eliza is hired by Duke to go undercover to infiltrate a women’s suffrage group that’s fighting for the right to vote. The group’s chairwoman, Margaret Fairfax, is willing to use any means to justify the end. Although Eliza successfully solves the case, the Duke doesn’t give her name to the newspapers in order to praise her, which upsets Eliza greatly because he has broken his promise. Moreover, the Duke confesses that he only hired her for this case because, as a woman, she would be able to infiltrate the women’s group. The 3rd episode was rated 7.6 on IMDb.

Miss Scarlet and the Duke Episode 4
The 4th episode of the series is titled “Memento Mori” and follows the case of a death photographer who takes pictures of dead people. He and his future wife receive threatening messages from beyond the grave. In addition, the photographer’s mother-in-law is a clairvoyant who reveals private details about his father to Eliza. However, the mystery of the mysterious messages is solved in the end. Meanwhile, the Duke continues to collect all the credits for himself. At the end of the episode, Eliza discovers her father’s casebook. Episode 4 was rated 7.7 on IMDb.
Miss Scarlet and the Duke Episode 5
In Episode 5 of Miss Scarlet and the Duke, titled “Cell 99,” the last entry in her father’s casebook leads Eliza to what appears to be an abandoned prison on the outskirts of London. She and the Duke then investigate what appears to be an empty building, but they soon discover that it is the hideout of a criminal gang. The episode was rated 7.9 on IMDb.
Miss Scarlet and the Duke Episode 6
In Miss Scarlet and the Duke Episode 6, Eliza uncovers the real truth behind the death of her father, who supposedly died of a heart attack. Moses has many criminal connections that make him a suspect in the investigation, but it may turn out to be someone who got under the Duke’s nose. Also, Moses tells Eliza that the Duke isn’t the man she thinks he is. Since all the episodes hinge upon one another as characters are developed it’s hard to say one episode is better than the other.
Overall it is very well done.
