With a new Netflix production called Keep Breathing, Mexican actress and singer Melissa Barrera continues to broaden her career after a successful run with roles in films including Scream, In the Heights, and Vida.

The six-part limited series debut on July 28, 2022, on a Thursday.

The series will also include Jeff Wilbusch, Austin Stowell, Juan Pablo Espinosa, and Florencia Lozano, in addition to Melissa Barrera, who portrays the lead character Liv. Maggie Kiley and Rebecca Rodriguez will co-direct the TV show. Rodriguez will helm the second half of the season, while Kiley will handle the first three episodes.

Liv (Melissa Barrera), a New York lawyer who is the only survivor when her private jet crashes in a remote area of Canada, must struggle to survive against the elements and her previous traumas.

Jeff Wilbusch

On November 14, 1987, Wilbusch was born in Haifa, Israel. He was raised in Mea Shearim, Jerusalem’s Satmar Hasidic Jewish neighborhood. He is the eldest of 14 siblings and speaks Yiddish as a first language.

He traveled to Amsterdam when he was 13 to pursue his studies after leaving his village. 2011, he completed a master’s program in international economics at the University of Amsterdam, where he concentrated in economics. After earning his graduate degree, he relocated to Munich and continued his theater studies there through 2015 at the Otto Falckenberg School of the Performing Arts.

Melissa Barrera

Melissa Barrera Martnez is a Mexican actress and singer born on July 4, 1990. She made her acting debut in the Netflix series Club de Cuervos and the telenovelas Siempre tuya Acapulco (2013) and Tanto amor (2015). (2017). She was able to boost her career thanks to her starring part in the Starz drama series Vida (2018–2020).

Barrera received recognition for her performance as Vanessa in the musical drama film In the Heights (2021), which is based on the stage production of the same name by Lin-Manuel Miranda. She also played Sam Carpenter in the slasher movie Scream (2022), and she’ll play the character again in Scream 6.

Florencia Lozano

American actress Florencia Lozano was born on December 16, 1969. In the daytime drama One Life to Live, she played the character Téa Delgado. Lozano has appeared as a guest actor in several movies and primetime television episodes.

Eduardo, an architect, and Elizabeth, a Spanish teacher from Argentina, welcomed Florencia Lozano into the world in Princeton, New Jersey. She left Cornell University, received a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University, and was raised in Newton Center, Massachusetts. She moved to New York City to pursue her Master of Fine Arts at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts’ Graduate Acting Program. Yerma, Antigone, Hamlet, and Caucasian Chalk Circle are just a few of the regional theater productions that Lozano has worked on.

Juan Pablo Espinosa

Colombian actor, Juan Pablo Espinosa, was born on October 28, 1980, in Bogota. Espinosa attended Boston’s Emerson College to study acting after completing his high school education at Bogota’s Gimnasio Moderno. Before moving back to Colombia in 2004, he also resided in New York and Los Angeles. He made his television debut in Colombia in 2005 on the daily anthology series Tu Voz estéreo on Caracol TV.

After a pause, he joined the ensemble cast of El ltimo Matrimonio Feliz and the Colombian theater production of Closer. He then made appearances in the RCN TV telenovelas Merlina, mujer divina, and Floricienta. He appeared in the first season of the Los Caballeros las prefieren brutas television series produced by Sony Pictures Television and Caracol in 2009 and in the Grey’s Anatomy-based RCN television series A corazón abierto.

Austin Stowell

Actor Austin Stowell was born in the United States on December 24, 1984. He is well recognized for his parts in the films Whiplash (2014), Love and Honor (2013), and Dolphin Tale 2, as well as for playing Francis Gary Powers in Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies (2015). Stowell was reared by his mother, Elizabeth, a schoolteacher, and his father, Robert, a retired steelworker, in Kensington, Connecticut, where he was born the youngest of three brothers.

In 2003, he received his diploma from Berlin High School intending to pursue a career as an actor. After being admitted to the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, he pursued his studies at the School of Fine Arts’ Department of Dramatic Arts. He took the stage with the Connecticut Repertory Theatre in a number of shows, such as Julius Caesar, It Can’t Happen Here, and As You Like It.
