We’re sorry to break it to you, but Hope Valley isn’t a genuine town. In reality, it isn’t based on a genuine town at all. But it remains one of our favorite imaginary hangouts! The majority of the scenes in this classic period piece were filmed on MacInnes Farms in Langley, British Columbia, roughly an hour south of Vancouver.

Elizabeth had found love with and married a Mountie (Daniel Lissing) throughout the first 5 seasons of the program, but she soon becomes a widow following his tragic death.
She gave life to their son, whom she names Jack after her late husband. Elizabeth adapts to life as a single mom in the years following her husband’s death and is actively pursued by two new suitors—businessman Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) and then another Mountie, Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry). Elizabeth eventually chose between the two men in the season 8 finale, a decision that has divided fans to this day.
What happened to Jack in When Calls the Heart?

From 2014 until 2018, Lissing portrayed Jack on When Calls the Heart but unfortunately everything good comes to an end. He did, however, decide to depart the program at the end of Season 5. His character was murdered off-screen in an incident, leaving his wife and child Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) widowed.
Loyal fans were devastated by Jack’s death, with many wanting his character would return to the program in some capacity, even after Elizabeth moved on with bar owner Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally). In a manner, they’ll achieve their dream when Lissing appears as Jack in the forthcoming When Hope Calls Christmas special. Lori Loughlin, his former When Calls the Heart co-star, is credited with making it happen.

The new season begins many months after the conclusion of season 8 when Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) ultimately chose between the two men racing each other for her precious heart: Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) and businessman Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally), which is a really tough choice if you ask us. She choose Lucas in the last minutes of the show, and the two enjoyed a sweet kiss on a bridge outside of town.
