Let’s examine why Zootopia is such a loved animation by answering the questions we prepared!
Zootopia, which has a total of 72 nominations and 47 awards, including 1 Oscar, has a score of 8.0 on IMDb. Through the story of Judy Hopps, the animation invites us to the universe of Zootopia, where animals live in peace. The experiences of Judy Hopps convey to us that some situations are wrong even in this universe.
Byron Howard, Rich Moore and Jared Bush are in the director and screenwriter staff of Zootopia, which has been in our lives since 2016 but we never get tired of it. The voice cast of the production includes successful names: Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Jenny Slate, Nate Torenca and many more.
Without further ado, let’s get to the part where we present our reasons why Zootopia is so loved!

Is Zootopia a real place on Earth?
We would like to have the exact same Zootopia, which is reflected to us in animation, in real life, but you know that this is not possible. Still, a zoo of the same name is located in Denmark.
Zootopia, which was built in 2019 to replace a zoo with very bad conditions, has a land of approximately 300 acres. This place, which is home to dozens of animals from many climates, has almost no walls and cages, and animals can be found in any part they want whenever they want. In addition, people’s travel route has been prepared separately so that the animals are not disturbed by people. The stress of animals is reduced to a minimum with hidden compartments, mirrored parts and a rail system that moves through the air. Bicycle tours and boat tours are available in areas with elephants and zebras.
We should also mention: Although animals from different climates can live together in love relationships, they cannot live in the same temperature and weather conditions. For this reason, there are 3 main sections in the zoo: Africa, Asia and America. Thus, each of them is provided with special weather conditions and it is aimed that they have a life that is slightly different from the conditions they came from.
If you want to visit an animal area with much better conditions than other zoos, you can go to Zootopia in Denmark. However, we should not forget that Zootopia with that beautiful environment is just an animation. Moreover, although the conditions of the zoo in Denmark are better than others, we should not forget that it is a place that restricts the freedom of animals.
Do guns exit in Zootopia?
We can answer both yes and no to this question. As you know, we witness the life of animals from every profession at Zootopia. On top of that, Judy Hopps is a rabbit who is not accepted because she is a policeman and is thought to be a farmer like her family. We witness many times the way he works as a police officer in the process of breaking down these prejudices. In this process, both Judy and the criminals who oppose her use paintball guns while catching the criminals. It’s a sign that killing is never the goal, it’s just to confuse and stun the other party.
As a matter of fact, the use of a paintball gun is a great reason to love Zootopia and a perfect decision in our opinion. Besides, it does not creates a completely utopian world and does not disappoint the children when they grow up, because the police carry guns, although they are used for a different purpose. It also doesn’t make adults feel like they’re watching too much children’s content by allowing them to watch animation that is very disconnected from the world they live in.
What is the moral lesson of Zootopia?
If we take a good look, Zootopia has countless moral lessons to offer. Let us explain the 2 most important of them for you!
The first of these is that we never have to follow the mold and we can be whatever we want! Juddy gave this lesson to anyone who thought she couldn’t be a cop because she’s a rabbit. If we look within ourselves, we live with prejudices and stereotypes, sometimes consciously and sometimes unconsciously. In the most general sense, we still have many unsolved problems, even with regard to gender equality. We still think that some jobs are not suitable for women, they require things like male logic, male strength. So wrong!
Another is a parallel moral lesson: Don’t judge anyone just from the outside. Many times, again without realizing it, we easily judge people by their outward appearance, whether they are good or bad, helpful or selfish. If we get to know each other, maybe we will see that they are the person we predicted, but this is always a low probability! In Zootopia, if the rabbit Judy had never known Nick the fox and only believed what she saw and heard, we would have known Nick the fox as a bad and cheater. But how our minds changed as we got to know him!
