Duttons Will Lose Yellowstone Ranch in Yellowstone Season 5 - Here is Why!

The Dutton family waged a ferocious battle to preserve their ranch in the family when the popular western series Yellowstone on the Paramount Network ended in January. However, following a significant hint in the show’s spin-off 1883, viewers think patriarch John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) would be forced to give up the estate.

As the Dutton family was forced to contend with casino moguls, land developers, and the Broken Rock reserve for a piece of their land, tensions increased for the entirety of season 4. Numerous prominent companies were also making the family repeated offers, but the Duttons had none.

As the biggest ranch in the country, the Yellowstone Dutton property was in high demand. But since it had been in the family for seven generations, John had no desire to part with it.

After a viewer detected a significant clue, it appears that this may no longer be the situation for the family when the show returns for season 5. The prequel series 1883 takes viewers back 130 years before John Dutton and focuses on the lives of James and Margaret Dutton, who were John’s great-grandparents (Faith Hill).

Viewers learned a lot about John’s ancestry and how they came to hold the Montana ranch as the prequel spin-off came to a conclusion in February. Although viewers haven’t yet seen the family arrive in Montana, they have learned that the Dutton family left Texas and embarked on a perilous journey in search of a better life.

Where is Yellowstone ranch?

With its unique environment of open fields, towering mountains, and the ranch’s recognizable cabins, Dutton Ranch serves as the ideal setting for the gripping western series. Therefore, you may be wondering: Where was Yellowstone filmed, and does it look that way there?

Many of Yellowstone’s episodes feature breathtaking natural landscapes, all of which are entirely real. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, more than 20 locations across Utah were used to film the show’s first three seasons as part of the state’s film incentive program.

Currently, the cast of The Yellowstone spends most of their time in Montana, filming on a ranch in the state where the program is supposed to take place. The stunning log home owned by the Dutton family is a 5,000-square-foot estate on the Chief Joseph Ranch not far from Darby, Montana. It’s a real working cattle ranch and family house, just like on television, and it’s adorable, of course.

The ranch’s owners rent out some of the cabins to tourists when not using them for filming Yellowstone on the 2,500-acre property. Visitors can ride horseback, go hiking, and fish in the stunning mountains nearby. (All the while, of course, thinking about Kevin showing up.)

As Yellowstone season 5 approaches, fans of Taylor Sheridan’s popular Neo-Western antihero crime drama have been plagued by the potential that John Dutton (Kevin Costner), the series’ central character, will pass away. In fact, the Yellowstone season 4 finale prophesied death and significant upheaval for the Dutton ranch in Kayce’s (Luke Grimes) visions. Even if it appears that John’s demise is inevitable, the guy has a reputation for telling death to leave his property by looking it in the eye.
