Sanditon is a beloved historical drama TV series based on Jane Austen’s unfinished novel of the same name. It fulfills our appetite for Austen’s amazing 18th-century England portrayals and strong female characters, and Charlotte Heywood is one of them. Following the death of Sidney, Charlotte’s life is filled with new romantic interests, one of them being Colonel Lennox. Who is Charlotte in Sanditon?

Charlotte Heywood is a genuine young woman who, after an accident, moves to a small town called Sanditon. She is a free-spirited unconventional woman, who wants to meet people and develop friendships with the locals. In the meantime, she meets one of the Parkers’ sons, Sidney Parker, and the two develop a love interest in each other.
The outstanding actress Rose Williams plays Charlotte Heywood in Sanditon. The 28-year-old actress has appeared in a number of films and TV shows, such as Medici, Reign, and The Power.

Colonel Lennox and Alexander Colbourne (played by Ben Lloyd-Hughes), who joined Sanditon in Season 2, are two of Charlotte’s new suitors. Lennox is the self-assured war hero and the commander of the war regiment that has recently arrived in the town. Charlotte and Colonel Lennox begin to spend time together from that day forward.
Colonel Lennox is played by Tom Weston-Jones, a 37-year-old English actor. He made his television debut in the BBC drama The Night Watch, which aired in 2011. Then, he rose to popularity for his performances in TV shows including Copper and Dickensian. He played Richard Henry Lee in the American martial arts crime drama TV series Warrior between 2019 and 2020.

Charlotte and Colonel Lennox Love Story

On the one hand, there is Colonel Lennox, who has a thing for Charlotte from the beginning because of her authentic charm and free spirit. However, Charlotte is still mourning Sidney and their love. As a result, we don’t believe Charlotte is completely open to a new relationship, even though she put herself together in a short period of time. Having said that, as the 2nd season progresses, she eventually develops affection for Colonel Lennox.

On the other hand, Charlotte has another suitor, Alexander Colbourne, who comes from a mysterious family but is really fascinated by Charlotte. The two created a bond when Charlotte helped him calm his horse.
Colonel Lennox isn’t completely out of the race, though Charlotte appears to be having a good time with Alexander. So, we believe there will be a love triangle, which could lead to rivalry between Lennox and Colbourne. Furthermore, because Lennox does not appear to be honest, some fans believe he will be the villain of the 2nd season. He didn’t even pick the flowers he sent to Charlotte for himself, as you may remember. Thus, Charlotte and Colonel Lennox may not have been meant to be together.

Sanditon Season 2 finally began on Masterpiece PBS on March 20, 2022. Since the launch of the 1st season in 2019, it’s felt like an eternity. Nonetheless, we’re thrilled to have seen four episodes so far. Keep that in mind, Season 2 saw a lot of changes. If you haven’t seen it yet, we recommend skipping this part because it includes a huge spoiler.

Theo James hasn’t returned to Sanditon Season 2, which is perhaps the greatest and most heartbreaking news. He also stated that he will not be returning for Season 3 either. As a result, Sidney dropped out of the series. He married widow Eliza Campion in the shocking 1st season finale to save his brother from financial collapse. Charlotte and Sidney’s love story came to an end with that. Then, he was killed off-screen at the start of Season 2. We lost our last ray of hope for the couple’s coming back together after learning this.

Now that Theo James is no longer in the cast, the showrunners have introduced two new characters as Charlotte’s new suitors. They are Alexander Colbourne and Colonel Lennox, as mentioned above. Speaking of new characters, Charlotte brought her sister to Sanditon when she returned to the town for Sidney’s funeral. Rosie Graham, who played Morna Cameron in Outlander, has joined the cast as Charlotte’s sister. She, like her sister, has been caught in a love triangle between Captain Fraser and Captain Carter.
