French action drama Athena was helmed by Romain Gavras in 2022. Dali Bensalah, Sami Slimane, Anthony Bajon, Ouassini Embarek, and Alexis Manenti are among the actors who appear in it.

The movie competed for the Golden Lion award and had its world debut at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. The story is set in a French banlieue and centers on the struggle of Idir’s brothers Karim, Moktar, and Abdel. It is about the turmoil that breaks out in the Athena neighborhood after the horrible assassination of Idir.

It was distributed by Netflix and debuted on September 9, 2022, in “select” theaters. On September 23, 2022, it was made available online.

Anthony Bajon, a French actor, was born on April 7, 1994. He is most known for playing the title character in the 2018 movie The Prayer, for which he received critical acclaim and the Silver Bear for Best Actor.

At the age of twelve, Anthony Bajon started performing on stage. Since then, he has frequently appeared in several French theaters. Bajon made his cinematic debut in Léa Fehner’s Les Ogres in 2015. Ouassini Embarek, an Algerian-born actor, debuted at the age of 14 in Bye-bye by Karim Dridi, a film shown at the Cannes Film Festival in the un particular regard area, portraying Sami Bouajila’s younger brother. Alexis Manenti, a Paris-raised actor of Corsican and Serbian descent, began his career in the Kourtrajmé collective by appearing in Kim Chapiron and Romain Gavras’s first short films. Film directors Fred Cavayé (Mea Culpa), Arnaud des Pallières (Orphan), Fanny Ardant (Le Couch de Staline), and Romain Gavras (Le monde est à toi) are behind the project.

In 2017, he and Ladj Ly co-wrote the short film Les Misérables, in which he portrays Chris, a police officer from the Montfermeil anti-crime unit. The movie received a César nomination for the best short film. The short film was turned into a feature picture in 2019 with the assistance of Giordano Gederlini, and Les Misérables went on to win the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
