By this time, you guys must have gotten used to seeing us constantly rambling about Heartland. The show is one of our all-time favorite shows. Well, who would not love Heartland? It has a great premise as it is centered around a lovable family living in Alberta, Canada. Through this family, we get to experience the mesmerizing ranch life in the region, which is blessed with amazing landscapes and beautiful horses.
It’s been 15 long years since the show first started. Until then, Heartland has never stopped being a hit, not only among the Canadian audience but also for everyone around the world whose path somehow crossed with this masterpiece. Perhaps, the strongest quality of the show is its brilliant portrayal of human interactions. From family bonds to friendships and romance, we get to see all types of relationships and all of them are presented in a unique but also very humane way.

This is impressive especially when it comes to romance since we got used to seeing highly toxic romantic relationships on the TV screen at all times. Heartland successfully breaks this unfortunate pattern and presents us with well-functioning romances that are based on mutual respect and love. The romance between Amy and Ty was the greatest example of these “good” relationships. The couple was highly fond of each other while never applying to toxic behaviors such as jealousy just for the mere sake of proving that they are in love. There was no need for such behavior. Instead, seeing them looking at each other with love was enough.
Of course, at this point, the on-screen chemistry between Amy and Ty should also be mentioned. The two were so believable in their actions that most people assumed they were together in real life as well. Unfortunately, this was not true. Still, both had relationships in real life. While Graham Wardle’s marriage did not last for long, Amber Marshall is still living happily ever after with her husband. Naturally, everybody wants to know about this mysterious man that managed to steal the heart of Marshall.

First, let’s get to know Marshall a little bit better so that we understand why people want to know about her personal life so much. Marshall was born in 1988. She has been in the acting business since her teenage years. Even though she starred in some small parts before, Heartland has become the show that enabled her to rise to international fame. In the show, Marshall is the leading actress who plays the part of Amy. Amy is a young girl who is highly talented with horses.
Interestingly, Marshall is also very interested in horses. She is helping a veterinary clinic in her free time and was a veterinary assistant before starting acting. She also lives on a ranch and has lots of horses. She even rides to the set sometimes. All these parallels between her real life and the show caused many of us to hope that the romance in the show was also real. Well, we were wrong. But still, Marshall was very happy in her off-screen romantic life as well. Back in 2013, Marshall got married to a man named Shawn Turner. Turner is a successful photographer.

The couple got met at a horse show back in 2010 and their attraction was immediate. They dated for three years up until their dreamy wedding. The wedding took place on their ranch. It was a small but glorious ceremony, attended by many actors from Heartland as well. Michelle Morgan and Chris Potter were some of the names that did not leave Marshall alone on her big day. It was a very intimate event as the couple’s love was reflected in every single part of the ceremony.
Even the altar was hand-maid by Turner as a sign of his love. Since then, the couple has lived on their ranch in Alberta, Canada with many animals from dogs to chickens. There are a total of 36 animals in the 100-acre ranch, highly similar to the Heartland ranch. Despite portraying a mother in Heartland, Marshall has no child in real life. Nevertheless, she mentioned before that she is willing to have a child one day.

Are Amy and Ty Dating in Real Life?
We know that you are still bummed about the fact that Marshall and Wardle, a.k.a. Amy and Ty, have never dated in real life. Despite not being involved in each other’s lives romantically, the two are good friends in real life. Marshall has been highly supportive of Wardle in his career change after leaving Heartland. She even has become a guest in his podcast. Whenever they got the chance, the two have always praised one another both in terms of their professionalism and personalities.
Nevertheless, it would be nice to have a good ending for their relationship at least on Heartland. In Season 14, Ty got killed off suddenly, leaving Amy all alone. It was a shock for all of us, as we all assumed that the couple would last forever. We were even imagining the two inheriting the Heartland ranch one day. Unfortunately, our dreams did not come true. Even though leaving the show was Wardle’s choice, we still believe that the showrunners could have handled the process way better.
It wasn’t the first time that a cast member had left the show. In the previous cases, however, we saw them moving to another country or receiving training somewhere. Killing a beloved character, in contrast, makes it impossible for him to return to the show ever again. And this is hard to accept. Despite not being together in real life, their on-screen couple deserved way better.
