On July 18, 1982, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, an Indian actress, producer, model, and singer, was born. Chopra, who is also Miss World 2000, is currently one of India’s highest-paid actresses. In 2016, she was awarded the Padma Shri by the Indian government, and Time named her one of the world’s 100 most influential people. In this biopic, Priyanka played boxing champion Mary Kom, an Indian rural Manipur native who was born and raised in a low-income household.

Mary overcomes several challenges in her life to win multiple titles as a world boxing champion. In addition, she was the only female boxer from India to earn a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. The film follows her life and journey as she progresses toward her goals.

6. Dostana

Chopra’s final film of the year was Dostana, a romantic comedy directed by Tarun Mansukhani and starring Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. The film, set in Miami, centers on a friendship between her character and two men who pretend to be gay to live with her in an apartment. Chopra played Neha, a fashionable young fashion magazine editor attempting to balance the demands of her job.

The White Tiger, directed by Ramin Bahrani and based on Aravind Adiga’s satirical novel of the same name, was Chopra’s first film of 2021. Chopra’s sole release in 2020 was the Netflix children’s superhero film “We Can Be Heroes” directed by Robert Rodriguez. She portrayed Ms. Granada, the head of Heroics, a superhero support organization.
