All Nicole Kidman Performances Ranked From Best to Worst

Here are the Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman performances rated, and we had to do it because Nicole Kidman has been one of Hollywood’s most successful leading women since her debut in the 1990s. She continues to provide outstanding performances, and while Kidman is most recognized for her work in films such as Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut and Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge, she has also done outstanding work on television.

Indeed, the actress co-starred with Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley in Jean-Marc Vallée’s hit HBO series Big Little Lies, but what are the other Nicole Kidman performances? Nicole Kidman’s ability to take on any job is a testimony to her status as a Hollywood icon: before gaining international acclaim, Kidman worked on little films in Australia, and although her celebrity came as a result of her relationship with Tom Cruise, Kidman made it clear that her skill was all she needed.

Now let’s look at the best Nicole Kidman performances that are worth checking out this weekend.

1. Dogville

Dogville

Dogville

The performance in Dogville resonates with the viewers the most, and Kidman appears strangely aloof as if she were an observing alien in a human body dumped into a moral wasteland that she tries to traverse with understanding and decorum until it becomes too much. This is definitely among the best Nicole Kidman performances as she is present but not present, astonished and distant, rivetingly separated from everyone else, and she carries the entire performance for three hours under the most basic of conditions, a throbbing heart beneath.

2. Paddington

Paddington

Paddington

Everything boils down to this: Nicole Kidman’s finest picture is a family-friendly film about a CGI bear from Darkest Peru, and it may seem unexpected to see a film like Paddington towards the top of our list, but after seeing it, it shouldn’t be. We don’t think Kidman has ever performed better than in Paddington, making it one of the best Nicole Kidman performances. When she portrays the sinister and terrifying Millicent, who works at London’s Natural History Museum, she learns that Paddington, a highly rare type of bear, has arrived in London, so she resolves to go to any length to get this bear.

3. To Die For

To Die For

To Die For

Kidman shines as Suzanne Stone in Gus Van Sant’s fantastic black comedy satire To Die For, and Stone is a stunning woman who aspires to be a big-time television journalist in this one. Stone takes a job as an assistant at a small cable station, and despite the fact that it’s completely mundane and unpleasant labor, she feels that if she works hard enough, she’ll make it onto the TV screen, but it isn’t long until she becomes a weather reporter, but it isn’t nearly enough to satisfy her dreams.

4. The Others

The Others

The Others

The haunted home film has been done before, but it’s rarely as wonderfully frightening and successful as The others: Grace, a single mother who relocates her children to the Channel Islands, is played by Nicole Kidman, and we had to add it to our Nicole Kidman performances ranked list. Her children have a mystery condition related to photosensitivity that compels them to live primarily in darkness since bright lights hurt them.

5. Lion

Lion

Lion

Garth Davis’ Lion, a touching and inspirational narrative about an epic quest to return home, follows the Australian-raised Saroo from childhood to maturity as he strives to discover his origins, and we cannot just overlook Kidman’s contribution to the project.

6. Dead Calm

Dead Calm

Dead Calm

Dead Claim is definitely among the best Nicole Kidman performances: When Tom Cruise was seeking his Days of Thunder co-star, he came upon Kidman’s picture Dead Calm, and as a result, this is perhaps the film that signaled Nicole Kidman’s transformation from Australian actress to bona fide Hollywood star. Kidman is a revelation as Rae Ingram, bursting with a kind of clandestine intensity.

7. Cold Mountain

Cold Mountain

Cold Mountain

Nicole Kidman plays Ada Monroe, a woman whose husband Inman is sent out to fight in the American Civil War, in this epic and heartbreaking film, making it one of the best Nicole Kidman performances. Inman eventually deserts and begins his perilous trip back to Cold Mountain, North Carolina, meanwhile, Ada is on the edge of disaster as she struggles to keep order at home. She is simultaneously caring for her ailing father and it’s made worse by the fact that her letters to Inman go unanswered.

8. Boy Erased

Boy Erased

Boy Erased

Boy Erased reveals the heartbreaking narrative of homosexual conversion therapy’s misery and anguish. The film follows Jared’s journey as he spends time at a conversion therapy camp, and the film has the circumstances that led to his parents, pastor Marshall and hairdresser Nancy (Nicole Kidman), placing him in the camp. Even though Boy Erased is not as good as the others on this list, it is still better than many Nicole Kidman performances.
