British actress Katrina Kaif, born Katrina Turquotte on July 16, 1983, performs in Hindi-language movies. She is one of the highest-paid actresses in India and has won honors, including four Screen Awards, four Zee Cine Awards, three Filmfare nominations, and four Zee Cine Awards. She has received mixed reviews for her acting, although she is renowned for dancing in several popular item numbers.
Kaif, born in Hong Kong, spent three years abroad before relocating to London. As a youngster, she accepted her first modeling job and later pursued a fashion modeling career. She was chosen to star in Boom (2003) by Indian director Kaizad Gustad at a fashion event in London. Boom was a critical and financial flop.
Despite building a successful modeling career in India, Kaif initially struggled to land film jobs because of her subpar Hindi. Kaif gained commercial success in Bollywood with the love stories Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005) and Namastey London after making an appearance in the Telugu movie Malliswari (2004).

To examine this successful career in more detail, we listed her acting in all the films she took part in, from good to bad.
1. Bang Bang
Kaif appears at the top of our list with her role in Bang Bang. In Siddharth Anand’s Bang Bang! (2014), an adaptation of the 2010 action-comedy Knight and Day, Kaif made her subsequent appearance. She portrayed a bank receptionist who accidentally gets in the way of a covert spy.
Her second most admired role is in Sooryavanshi. With Akshay Kumar, Kaif’s sole 2020 movie was Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, but the COVID-19 epidemic in India led it to be repeatedly delayed until its eventual November 2021 release. Kaif, a fan of Shetty’s extravagant directing style, portrayed the part of Kumar’s wife. Sooryavanshi momentarily held the title of the highest-grossing movie in India for the year at the box office.
3. Tiger Zinda Hai
Kaif and Salman Khan reunited for Ali Abbas Zafar’s action thriller Tiger Zinda Hai, a follow-up to the 2012 film Ek Tha Tiger. Kaif reprised her role as Zoya in the movie. Kaif made up for her sparse conversation in Rachit Gupta’s article by effectively acting out the sequences involving gunfights and hand-to-hand fighting. Rachit Gupta called it “invigorating to witness a girl kick-ass with so much élan and pull all the punches like they’re genuine.”
4. Dhoom 3
She briefly costarred with Aamir Khan in the 2013 action movie Dhoom 3, directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. She committed to a year-long routine of Pilates, functional training, and aerial strapping to be ready for her position as a circus artist. Kaif was criticized for playing a small role in the film; however, Taran Adarsh said she was “ethereal” and “dancing with great elegance in dance routines.” The movie garnered mixed reviews.
5. Ek Tha Tiger
The spy thriller Ek Tha Tiger starred Kaif as a Pakistani ISI agent who falls in love with an Indian RAW agent. The majority of the reviews for the movie were excellent; Aniruddha Guha of Daily News and Analysis called it “clever and stylish.” Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express said about Katrina’s performance: “Katrina is an adept, energetic contrast to Salman.”
6. Baar Baar Dekho
In the science fiction love story Baar Baar Dekho directed by Nitya Mehra, Kaif starred alongside Sidharth Malhotra. Despite finding Kaif expressionless, Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express lauded her and Malhotra for their upbeat dance routine in “Kala Chashma,” which has received over one billion views on YouTube.
7. Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Later that year, Kaif and Shah Rukh Khan appeared together in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Yash Chopra’s last film. She proclaimed her enthusiasm for working with Chopra, claiming that he “is without a doubt the reigning king of romance, and I have always appreciated his portrayal of his heroines. Working with him has always been a dream, and it’s much better in reality.” She portrayed Meera, a lady who will break up their relationship if her partner awakens from his coma. Kaif’s performance drew a mixed response, despite the film’s generally favorable reviews.
8. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
In Zoya Akhtar’s coming-of-age dramedy Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Kaif was partnered with Hrithik Roshan. In the movie, which follows three buddies on a bachelor party vacation, Kaif plays Laila, a diving instructor who develops a love interest in Roshan’s character and motivates him to kick his workaholism. She is “delightful,” according to Variety’s Richard Kuipers, in the part of a kind young woman who challenges others to face their flaws.
9. Thugs of Hindostan
The two films that Kaif released in 2018—the romantic comedy-drama Zero and the historical action-adventure Thugs of Hindostan—were developed with large budgets. Both movies were among the most eagerly awaited releases that year, yet neither one was a hit.
Fitoor, directed by Abhishek Kapoor, is a version of Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations in which Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Tabu all portrayed characters based on Estella Havisham. Kaif impressed Namrata Joshi when she danced, smiled, or flirted but fell short in tragic roles.
