Maggie Friedman developed the American drama web series Firefly Lane for Netflix. The series is based on Kristin Hannah’s book of the same name. The show debuted on February 3, 2021, and it follows the lives of two young girls from the 1970s through to the early 2000s when they become adults.   

The show was given a 2nd season in May 2021. It was revealed in October 2022 that the 2nd season, which would have 16 episodes split into two halves, would be the series’ final season.  

In Firefly Lane, best friends Kate and Tully, who have been together since eighth grade, negotiate friendship, love, and life. The story opens in the summer of 1974, a period of introspection and reflection in the life of eighth-grader Kate Mularkey, who has come to terms with the fact that she will always be at the bottom of the social scale.   

Tully (Tallulah) Hart enters her neighborhood and desires to be her friend, much to her surprise. Beginning that summer, a connection that lasts for more than three decades begins.

Sarah Lampert’s American comedy-drama television series Ginny & Georgia premiered on Netflix on February 24, 2021. A 2nd season of the show was ordered in April 2021.  

In Ginny & Georgia, Georgia plans to settle down in a New England village with her daughter Ginny and son Austin to provide them with a better life than she had. The main character is Ginny Miller, who is more mature than her mother.

Brianne Howey, Diesel La Torraca, Scott Porter, Jennifer Robertson, Antonia Gentry, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, and Raymond Ablack were mentioned as series regulars alongside the first series announcement. Mason Temple was confirmed to have been given a recurring role on January 20, 2021.

2. Gilmore Girls  

Lauren Graham plays Lorelai Gilmore in the American comedy-drama television series Gilmore Girls, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, and stars Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore). The WB’s flagship series, which made its premiere on October 5, 2000, was the program. Seven seasons of Gilmore Girls were produced, with the last one shifting to The CW and finishing on May 15, 2007.  

Lorelai Gilmore, 32, and her intelligent teenage daughter Rory Gilmore are the sitcom’s two central characters. Lorelai was reared in Hartford, Connecticut, by her wealthy parents, Richard and Emily, but she always felt confined by her circumstances, as revealed early in the episode.

3. Dead to Me  

Liz Feldman, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Jessica Elbaum serve as the executive producers of the American dark comedy television series Dead to Me. The Netflix original comedy, which stars Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini as two bereaved women who become friends in therapy, made its debut on May 3, 2019.   

Positive reviews were given to the 1st season. The show received a 2nd  season renewal from Netflix in June 2019, premiering on May 8, 2020. At the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, Applegate was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. 

Dead to Me is about Jen and Judy’s blossoming friendship. Jen is mourning the loss of her husband, while Judy is mourning the loss of her fiancé. This difference leads to a deep bond between the two characters.

4. Little Fires Everywhere  

The 2017 Celeste Ng novel of the same name inspired the American drama streaming television series Little Fires Everywhere. It had its Hulu debut on March 18, 2020, and there is eight episodes total. Along with Liz Tigelaar, Lauren Neustadter, and Pilar Savone, the series also includes executive producers Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington.   

It stars Witherspoon and Washington as mothers from various socioeconomic backgrounds and is set in the late 1990s in the Cleveland suburb of Shaker Heights, Ohio.  

In Little Fires Everywhere, “an enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives” are followed in addition to “the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family” as in it, “the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, the fierce pull of motherhood—and the danger in believing that following the rules can avert disaster—are explored.”

5. Grace And Frankie  

For Netflix, the American comedy television series Grace and Frankie was developed by Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris. The titular Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein, played by Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, are two older women who develop an unlikely friendship after learning their husbands are in love and preparing to wed. Supporting cast members include Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, June Diane Raphael, and Baron Vaughn.

6. This Is Us  

NBC broadcasts the American family drama series This Is Us from September 20, 2016, until May 24, 2022. The show follows three children, two parents, and their families across several historical periods.  

The “Big Three” Pearson siblings, Kate, Kevin, and Randall, and their parents, Rebecca and Jack, are the subjects of the television show. While much of it occurs in the present, other significant events in the family’s past are shown through flashbacks and forwards. On Jack’s 36th birthday in 1980, triplets were delivered six weeks early; Kyle was a stillbirth, leaving Kevin and Kate as the only two survivors.
