Based on a famous character created by the Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell, the Netflix series Young Wallander quietly released its 2nd season on the 17th of February, and now, the only question in everybody’s mind is: When is Young Wallander Season 3 Release Date?
The crime drama follows the young Inspector Kurt Wallander, although the original fictional character is much older, the series works as a prequel to his life, showing his earlier days but in modern times. The series received harsh criticisms just because of that, reviewers saying since the series is about the young version of Wallander it should have been staged at a much earlier time. Of course, the series continued despite criticism, and when the show was renewed for a 2nd season, right after the 1st one, the small fan base of the show was over the moon.
The series has 2 seasons, for now, each of them has only 6 episodes. So, it would pose no challenge to professional binge-watchers! Although the show’s latest season arrived only a month ago, fans are already wondering when and if a new season is going to arrive. Well, we have the answers for you!
Young Wallander Season 3 Release Date
The fact that Season 2 of the show was released without much press and promotion looks like a bad sign for the future of the series. The show also did not have a huge viewership except in Nordic countries, since the character of Wallander is Swedish and is quite popular around there.
Considering that Netflix usually waits a month after the release of a show’s new season in order to decide if it is going to renew it or not, we might be hearing such news soon. The reason for Netflix to do that is to see how many households have watched the series in its 1st month and whether there are enough viewers for the show to continue. We believe we will hear an announcement regarding a 3rd season quite soon.
Young Wallander Season 2 Ending Explained
The 2nd season revolves around the investigation of Elias’ death, a young man who was killed in a hit and run. As the season went on, we learned that Elias had a brother called Soren who had spent 8 years in jail for assuming the crime of killing one of the teachers at their school. At the beginning of the season, we think that Elias and Soren were the ones who killed the teacher but later on, we find out that it was actually Amelia (also known as Mia) who killed the teacher.
Because Elias was in love with Amelia, he did not want her to go to jail, so he told Soren that he was the one who did it. Soren did not want his little brother to go to jail as well, so he took the blame.
We also learn at the end of the season who actually killed Elias: a police officer called Peterson and the reason for that was Peterson’s amicable relationship with Amelia, with whom he spent some time together at a psychiatric ward. Peterson turns out to be almost obsessed with Amelia, as he kills Elias to protect her. We find out that Elias was about to finally confess to Soren, about the real murderer on their past case, and Peterson learning this thinks it will put Amelia in danger and kills Elias.
