Unsolved Mysteries is an American mystery documentary television program created by John Cosgrove and Terry Dunn Meurer. On January 20, 1987, NBC aired a seven-part special series presented by Robert Stack and starring Raymond Burr, Karl Malden, and Robert Stack.
On October 5, 1988, it expanded into a full-fledged series. On November 13, 1997, the sitcom left NBC after nine seasons and began its 10th season on CBS. Virginia Madsen’s addition as a co-host during season 11 failed to improve the show’s dwindling ratings, and on June 11, 1999, CBS ended the two-season, 12-episode run of the show.
The documentary series Unsolved Mysteries uses reenactments of unsolved crimes, missing people cases, conspiracy theories, and unexplained paranormal events to highlight real-life mysteries (alien abductions, ghosts, UFOs, and “secret history” theories).
The idea came from a trilogy of programs that John Cosgrove and Terry-Dunn Meurer produced. They offered the idea to NBC in 1985, and the program “Missing… Have You Seen This Person?” was shown in 1986. Cosgrove and Meurer expanded the series to cover several types of mysteries due to the specials’ popularity.

Unsolved Mysteries Season 3 Review
Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3’s premiere episode makes it clear that there will not be any simple solutions this season. At first glance, “Mystery at Mile Marker 45” appears to be a simple case. Four miles from her house, Tiffany Valiante, an athletic young lady preparing for her first year in college, is hit by a train.
Why the heck else would an 18-year-old be on the railway tracks in the middle of nowhere after 11 p.m., according to the New Jersey Transit Authority’s ruling? It seems to sense that the case appears on Unsolved Mysteries since her family naturally does not want to accept that she would commit suicide. However, there is still more.
It turned out that when she was struck by the train, neither her shoes nor her shorts were on. Later, her mother—not detectives—would discover her shoes at the side of the road, far from the railroad lines and her house. Her shoes seemed as though she had just stepped out of them, and her feet bore no evidence that she had gone barefoot to the railroad tracks (no mud or grime, no splinters, no injuries).
Furthermore, despite thorough searches of the region, the shorts were never discovered. Is there anything more to this than just a late-night suicide, you have to question. Moreover, that is only the beginning.
As you gather more details about this case, you start to question whether her parents are correct and whether there was foul play.
In “Body in the Bay,” episode 7, another death initially assumed to be a suicide occurs. Even more puzzling than that are its conditions. One evening, Patrick Mullins takes his boat out on the nearby river before going missing. Several miles from his home dock, his boat is discovered in the Gulf of Mexico with no one on board and no fuel.
Has any one of Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries been solved?
Unsolved Mysteries Volume Three has finally arrived on Netflix after a two-year wait. The 3rd season of nine episodes will be released on October 18, October 25, and November 1 in three parts of three episodes each.
According to the Unsolved Mysteries website, more than 100 families were reunited with missing loved ones, half of the cases in the show involving wanted fugitives had been solved, and seven people who had been wrongfully convicted of crimes had been exonerated and released. Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix, unfortunately, has not had any of its cases solved yet.
