Since its premiere on November 1, 2019, The Morning Show has won our hearts for touching a sensitive subject by portraying women who are sexually harassed at work, frequently by males with better degrees than them. Mitch Kessler, the co-anchor of America’s most-watched news program, The Morning Show, has been accused of sexually abusing his female coworkers and has been suspended indefinitely. That is how The Morning Show begins, and there have been two seasons released yet. What about The Morning Show Season 3 release date and trailer? Is The Morning Show canceled? What happened in The Morning Show Season 2? Here is everything we know.
What happened in The Morning Show Season 2?
Before we get straight to the point, we should warn you. Spoiler alert! We strongly recommend you not to read this part if you haven’t seen the 2nd season of The Morning Show since we don’t want to spoil it.
The Morning Show Season 2 continues to surprise us with a new huggermugger happening at UBS after the catastrophic season finale. We learn at the start of the 2nd season that Alex has quit The Morning Show and moved to the countryside to live a peaceful life. Mitch also moved to Italy to get away from his tumultuous past. On the other hand, the network decides to convince Alex to return to the show. Alex is unable to ignore the insistence of Cory and eventually accepts to return.
In the meantime, a woman named Laura Peterson appears to be having separate interviews with Alex and Bradley. Laura asks Alex personal questions about Mitch, thus the interview with Alex does not go as planned. On the other side, Bradley’s interview goes well; in fact, after Bradley kisses Laura in the car, the two develop sexual intimacy.
Then Alex learns that journalist Maggie Brener wrote a book on The Morning Show’s backstage that includes some unreleased facts about her and Mitch. Despite Alex’s attempts to convince Maggie not to publish that section, Maggie refuses, and Alex becomes upset. So she disappears, and we learn that she traveled to Italy to persuade Mitch to sign a release claiming that they had never slept together. By the way, Laura is brought in to fill in for Alex in the show.
Meanwhile, in Italy, Mitch meets Paola, a documentary filmmaker who requests Mitch’s help. They become friends and decide to spend their quarantine together. Not to mention that the coronavirus is spreading over the planet at the same time. So, Alex tracks down Mitch and begs him to issue that statement regarding their personal relationship, which Mitch reluctantly agrees to, and the two spend some quality time together before Alex leaves.
Mitch dies in a car accident in the Italian countryside the same night, and his death is widely circulated at UBS. Subsequently, Alex returns to the U. S. and hears that Mitch is dead and that she has coronavirus, prompting her to be isolated right away. Regrettably, she is worsening day by day.
Things aren’t great on Bradley’s side, either. Her brother Hal, who just arrived in New York City a few days ago, refuses to go to rehab and is now lost. Bradley is searching hopelessly for him everywhere, and Cory is helping her. As if that wasn’t enough, Cory eventually confesses her love for Bradley, confirming our assumptions that he has feelings for her. However, as Bradley finds her brother at that very moment, this confession stays unanswered.
The network gives Alex a primetime show in which she can show people the progression of her illness and raise awareness about the coronavirus pandemic. On air, she discusses all of the virus’s adversities and what she has gone through so far. She also mentions all of the recent headlines about her, as well as the texts Maggie has written about her. She closes the broadcast by expressing she wants to figure out who she is and live her life, and she teases Season 3 of The Morning Show with the phrase “See you later.”
Who is The Morning Show Laura Peterson?
Laura Peterson is a former anchor and TMS worker who shows up in the 3rd episode. We feel the tension between her and Alex which we will learn why in the next episodes. Laura keeps her distance from Alex because it turns out that Alex was the one who disclosed Laura’s sexual identity when the two were pals. Laura does, however, play a role in Bradley’s character arc in terms of her reconciliation with her suppressed emotions about her sexual identity, as well as her management of the revelation of her and Laura’s relationship.
The character of Laura is played by the 55-year-old American actress Julianna Margulies, who rose to fame with her role in the medical drama series ER. Marguiles’ performance in the television series earned her a Primetime Emmy Award.
