The Disney Plus series Hawkeye, which gave us a chance to get to know one of the lesser-known Avengers, was released by Disney from November to December 2021. The series was only 6 episodes long, so no fan can say they’ve got enough of Clint Barton/Hawkeye. Many fans are eager for a Hawkeye Season 2 since they especially enjoyed the chemistry between the 2 main characters of the show, Hawkeye and Kate Bishop. Although one of the show’s side characters, Echo, is getting a spin-off that will most likely come out in 2023, we still want to see more of Hawkeye. Let’s see if that is possible or nigh-on impossible.

From the start, Hawkeye was launched as a miniseries or what is known as a limited series. So it doesn’t seem like the showrunners planned on doing a 2nd season of the series. Also, it has been 6 months since the final episode of the 1st season was released, so we would hear about a Season 2 if it was in the talks. But we didn’t, so it is doubtful there will be a Hawkeye Season 2.
Even if the show is renewed for another season, let’s say in the following months, the release date would not be any earlier than late 2023 since the filming and the post-production stage of the Marvel series last longer.

According to the viewership numbers, Hawkeye was the least-watched series among Disney Plus Marvel shows released in 2021: Loki, WandaVision, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. While Loki was streamed for a total of 5.23 billion minutes, WandaVision was watched for 4.8 billion minutes and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for 4.15 billion minutes. Hawkeye, on the other hand, was streamed for 3.46 billion minutes. Even Moon Knight, released from March to May 2022, managed to outperform Hawkeye in viewership as the new series was watched for over 3.7 billion minutes since it aired.
When considered by itself, Hawkeye is not a flop, but compared to other Marvel shows on the platform, it seems Hawkeye did not do well enough. The show’s viewership numbers are behind Star Wars shows, such as both seasons of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfield) will be the new Hawkeye of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She was Clint’s protege and was trained through the Hawkeye series to take over his mantle. However, the transition has not taken place yet. At the series’ season finale, Kate was joking about getting a superhero name for herself, but we didn’t see her getting called Hawkeye. It seems in the following projects of the MCU, she will take over the role of Hawkeye.

Since Loki did more in terms of streaming numbers, many people compare the 2 series and wonder which one’s better. We can compare the 2 according to their critical response, but that would not give us much since both have a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience ratings are different, though, and Loki seems to come on top here. While Hawkeye has a 7.6 rating on IMDb, Loki has an 8.2. So, it looks like out of the 2 Disney Plus series, Loki was the fan-favorite.
