2. Land Girls

A British period drama series called Land Girls debuted on BBC One on September 7, 2009. The BBC commissioned Roland Moore to develop Land Girls to mark the 70th anniversary of the start of the Second World War. The show was the first-period drama to be ordered by BBC Daytime. Birmingham served as the backdrop for the filming of Land Girls. Summer Strallen, Christine Bottomley, Jo Woodcock, and Becci Gemmell play four girls who served in the Women’s Land Army during World War I as part of Britain.

At the 2010 Broadcast Awards, Land Girls won “Best Daytime Program,” and the BBC announced that it had ordered a 2nd season with five episodes. As Bea, Joyce, Woodcock, and Gemmell repeated their roles, Seline Hizli made her acting debut as Connie Carter, the new girl. After the 2nd season debuted on January 17, 2011, BBC Daytime Controller Liam Keelan decided to renew Land Girls for a 3rd season two months later. It debuted on November 7th, 2011.

3. Call the Midwife

In the late 1950s and early 1960s, a group of nurse midwives who practiced in London’s East End was the subject of the BBC period drama series Call the Midwife. A 1908 book titled Anne of Green Gables was written by Canadian novelist Lucy Maud Montgomery (published as L. M. Montgomery). It has been considered as a classic children’s book since the middle of the twentieth century, while being written for people of all ages. The story, which takes place in the late 19th century, follows the exploits of 11-year-old orphan Anne Shirley, who is accidentally sent to Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, two middle-aged siblings who had initially intended to adopt a boy to help them on their farm in the fictional town of Avonlea in Prince Edward Island, Canada. 5. Tiny House Nation

American reality television program Tiny House Nation is broadcast. Renovation professionals John Weisbarth and Zack Giffin help people throughout the nation create their dream homes that are no more than 500 square feet in this show inspired by the tiny house movement. On July 9, 2014, the FYI network will air the series. After the 4th season, the show started broadcasting on FYI’s parent network, A&E. A Saturday 9 AM time slot was used to burn off the second half of Season 5.

Sideline Productions in Dublin created a 12-part British history documentary series called Secrets of Great British Castles. Its debut was between 3 April 2015 and 9 December 2016 (6 parts per season). The most renowned castles in Great Britain are examined by historian Dan Jones throughout a millennium of history.
