Probably the most-talked-about show of the last few days, Stranger Things broke another Netflix record with its newest season as it was streamed for a total of 286.79 million hours in its opening weekend. The platform announced its top 10 most-watched English language tv series for the week of May 23-May 29. Not only did all Stranger Things seasons manage to enter the top 10, but the show broke the record of Bridgerton Season 2, which was viewed for 193 million hours in its opening weekend in March.
Now, apart from breaking records, Season 4 is being considered the best season of the show, according to many fans. With that being said, many fans still believe in the reign of Season 1 and say even Season 4 could not top its greatness. We present you with our own opinion of the show’s all seasons ranked from best to worst.
1. Stranger Things Season 4 Part 1
This might be controversial, but Stranger Things Season 4 Part 1 is the show’s best season, even though the last 2 episodes are not released yet. This can mainly be attributed to this season’s villain, Vecna, an antagonist who has a backstory. Don’t get us wrong, Demogorgon is scary and the Mind Flayer even more, but it wasn’t easy to understand their motives. Demogorgon, for one, seems like a monster who likes to eat human flesh, and that’s it. But Vecna and his link to the Creel kid and the text subject 001 felt fresh and unique.
Another significant aspect of this season is introducing the new characters like Eddie, Argyle, and Jason, who seemed to fit in the story seamlessly. Especially Argyle was one of the best things about the California storyline with his silliness and quirky one-liners. Eddie seemed like a charm from the 1st moment we saw him, which proved correct for the rest of the season.
2. Stranger Things Season 1
The 2nd best season of the show is Season 1, which had a magic of its own. Both the D&D gang and the audience didn’t know what was happening when Will got lost. So, everyone, including the characters and the viewers, went in blind, solving the mystery with the characters as the series went along. On the other hand, in the following seasons, we all had sufficient information about the Upside Down and the lab to guess the reasons behind the events. This was impossible in Season 1. That’s why it had magic that couldn’t be replicated in the following seasons.
We love Season 1 also because it showed the best character arc of the series, Steve’s. He started the series as a bully who went hard on Jonathan after his brother Will got lost. We all rooted for Nancy to break up with him and be with Jonathan. However, towards the end of the season, Steve realized what a jerk he had been, apologized to Nancy and Jonathan, and joined them in their fight against the Demogorgon. This is probably why he became one of the most-liked characters and the most excellent babysitter of the entire show.

3. Stranger Things Season 2
Now, the thing about Season 2 is that it has one of the best and the worst episodes of all seasons. Season 2’s season final, called “The Gate,” is a contender for being the show’s best episode. It has everything we need, the romance (between Mike and Eleven), the action, and the heartfelt moments between a father and his daughter (Hopper and Eleven, who else could we be talking about?). With that being said, the 2nd season also has the worst episode of the entire show called “The Lost Sister,” in which Eleven goes to Chicago to see another girl that was also experimented on within the lab.
Although it was funny and refreshing to see Eleven becoming goth, the episode was pointless and needless as it added almost nothing to the storyline.
4. Stranger Things Season 3
We out Season 3 on the last spot because this season feels more like a comedy series than a fantasy drama it sets out to be. Also, despite seeming scary, the Mind Flayer feels like just another monster sworn to finish humanity, but we never get to hear why. As we see in Stranger Things Season 4, the show could be more substantial if the monster stood up for something rather than being bent on taking over the world.
