All Kakegurui Characters Ranked From Best to Worst

Kakegurui is one of the must-haves for anime lovers. We mentioned Kakegurui in our previous articles, but now let’s review a short summary for those who haven’t watched it before.

At Hyakkaou Private Academy, one of Japan’s most elite schools where, unlike other schools, the hierarchy is established by gambling, the events of Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler take place. Yumeko Jabami, a transfer student, has a charming and innocent front that conceals a psychotic addiction to gambling and high-stress circumstances. Yumeko threatens to topple the corrupt hierarchy of the school for the sheer thrill of it, thanks to her sharp intelligence, which can see through the sophisticated cheating strategies utilized by the most potent pupils to rig games in their favor.

So, who are the protagonists of this well-known anime?

1. Yumeko Jabami

We would like to list Yumeko as the best character in Kakegurui. The main character in Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler is Yumeko Jabami. She is a second-year transfer student at Hyakkaou Private Academy and is Ryota Suzui’s classmate. Yumeko’s family is also challenging her to enroll at Hyakkaou Private Academy because Kirari Momobami’s family is allied with theirs.

Yumeko is a student at Hyakkaou Private Academy in Tokyo, Japan. She dons the required attire for female students: a red blazer with black trim along the cuffs and collar, a white dress shirt with a black button-down collar, black stockings, and brown loafers.

2. Midari Ikishima

The second good character is Midari! The lead character of the spin-off series Kakegurui Midari and a supporting player in Kakegurui is Midari Ikishima. She is a second-year student at Hyakkaou Private Academy and the president of the Beautification Council.

Midari is a pale-skinned girl with short black hair that is styled in a concave-cut and extremely tiny pupil. Close-ups of her eyes in the anime show that they have a yellow-green color (she has purple eyes in the manga).

3. Kirari Momobami

The main adversary in Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler and Kakegurui Twin is Kirari Momobami. She is in charge of the current structure at Hyakkaou Private Academy and is the 105th and seemingly unstoppable Student Council President. She also serves as the leader of the Hundred Devouring Families, an alliance of numerous strong clans that support Yumeko Jabami’s family.

Kirari is an attractive, very light-skinned, and average-height girl. She has long white hair that she wears in two knotted rings with ribbons entwined in them. She sports a gray colored skirt with patterns on it, black tinted pantyhose, and brown loafers.

4. Mary Saotome

Mary Saotome is the lead character of the spin-off series Kakegurui Twin and a deuteragonist in Kakegurui. She is a sophomore at Hyakkaou Private Academy and a classmate of Yumeko Jabami and Ryota Suzui, the first antagonist to challenge Yumeko and fall short of her in the entire series.

Mary is a medium-sized girl with long blonde hair pulled back into two ponytails fastened with black ribbons and dark-yellow eyes. She is dressed in the regular Hyakkaou Private Academy uniform, consisting of a crimson jacket with black trim around the cuffs, neck, and gold buttons.

5. Runa Yomozuki

Election gambling games are officiated by Runa Yomozuki, a Student Council member and the Election Committee chairman.

Over her Hyakkaou Private Academy uniform, she wears an orange rabbit Kigurumi, a red blazer with black trim along the cuffs and neck, a white button-up dress shirt, a dark pleated skirt, a tie, and striped stockings in white and black. She frequently notices different lollipops popping out of her mouth and plays games.

When she picks out Midari Ikishima’s eye and during the match between Mary Saotome, Ryota Suzui, Miyo Inbami, and Miri Yobami, she shows a sadistic streak. Runa believes in fair play, and any attempt to cheat is unacceptable to her.

Runa Yomozuki

6. Ryota Suzui

One of the main characters in Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler is Ryota Suzui. He turned into a housepet after losing to Mary Saotome in a match. Yumeko Jabami, who offered him money as a thank you and later became her first friend at Hyakkaou Private Academy, thankfully paid off Ryota’s debt.

Ryota is a pale-skinned adolescent with brown eyes and neck-length untidy brown hair. He is dressed in the Hyakkaou Private Academy uniform, which consists of a crimson jacket with black trim on the cuffs and collar and gold buttons for adornment.

Ryota is kind and friendly, although not necessarily outspoken or reserved. Throughout the series, he’s shown to be timid, rarely showing any form of confidence. After meeting and befriending Yumeko Jabami, his self-confidence slowly grows. Ryota is also very smart despite the school rarely focusing on studying.
