Even before Netflix released season 3 of You, one of the service’s most-watched shows, it announced on Twitter that You season 4 will also arrive. Two days before the actual release of the third season (October 15), many fans around the world were relieved to hear such great news. When we finished season 3, we saw the main antagonist Joe Goldberg, played by incredible Penn Badgley, going to Paris, searching for his newfound love Marienne. Knowing that the new season will take place in Paris, we are already excited to see Joe and his wrongdoings.

However, we have no idea when the new season is actually going to arrive. Fans speculate that season 4 will be released at the end of 2022, or maybe at the beginning of 2023 because of the international filming. This means we still have a lot of time in our hands while we impatiently wait for the new season. We propose watching shows similar to You that will make it worth the time. Here is a list of shows that fans of You will most probably enjoy!

Ratched

The first series we are going to recommend you watch while waiting for You season 4, is another show on Netflix: Ratched. The show is about the origin story of asylum nurse Mildred Ratched, played by Sarah Paulson. The story follows Ratched as she arrives at a psychiatric hospital in Northern California where the lead doctor experiments on his patients. While Mildred establishes herself as an ideal nurse, we begin to see that she is much more than as she has plans to save her murderous and mentally unstable foster brother Edmund Tolleson, who is also an inmate in the same hospital.

This show will be enjoyed by many fans of You, since it is a dark, mysterious but humorous story that will be familiar to the viewers of You. It only has one season for now but we already know that the second season is confirmed. The first season only has 8 episodes so it should be a quick watch.

What if

What If is a mini-series on Netflix, first released on the 24th of May, 2019. Played by Renée Zellweger, the story follows Anne Montgomery who is dedicated to ruining the marriage of a young couple who struggles to stay together. Montgomery is an angel investor who swoops in to save the company of Lisa (Jane Levy) under one condition, which is to sleep with Lisa’s husband, Sean (Blake Jenner). Thinking one night with another woman is not going to harm her relationship with her husband, Lisa takes the deal. Then, however, we learn that Montgomery has a mysterious agenda and will not just stop after sleeping with Sean.

With incredible performances, especially by Zellweger, What If will provide you with the action and mystery you need while you are waiting for You’s next season. The first season of What If has only got 10 episodes, and Netflix did not confirm the renewal of the show for another season. So, this should be another quick watch!

Behind her eyes

Behind Her Eyes is a thriller that follows Louise (Simona Brown), a single mom with a son, who works at a psychiatrist’s office. Louise begins an affair with her boss David (Tom Bateman) and gets involved in a friendship with his wife Adele (Eve Hewson). Though at first, the story seems like a love triangle, Louise soon finds herself in a dangerous web of secrets where the story turns into a dark and suspenseful tale.

If you liked You’s secrets, twisted revelations, and suspense, this show is just right for you. Behind Her Eyes was a limited series, meaning its story was told in one season, so it is unlikely that the show will be renewed for another season.

Bates Motel

The last show we are going to be recommending is Bates Motel. The series was a contemporary prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho. The show was about the lives of Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) and his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga). The series starts with Norma’s husband’s death after which we slowly witness Norman’s mental illness becoming more and more threatening. Norma both tries to protect his son and those around him from himself. This show is a must for those who want to see the birth of a psychopathic killer.
