Ever since Netflix released the 1st season of Shadow and Bone in April 2021, every Grishaverse fan, regretful that they binge-watched the entire season in less than a day, has been waiting impatiently for Shadow and Bone Season 2 to arrive. Of course, fans could read the books in the Grisha trilogy but we know reading is not the same as seeing your favorite characters alive on screen.
Shadow and Bone is based on one of the books of the aforementioned Grisha trilogy, written by Israeli-American writer Leigh Bardugo, and actually, the name of the 1st book in the trilogy is, you guessed it, Shadow and Bone. The names of the other books in the series are Siege and Storm and Ruin and Rising. But the Netflix series does not only include stories and characters from the Grisha trilogy, it also incorporates characters from Six of Crows duology, written by the same author.
The series received a rating of 88% from Rotten Tomatoes and 68 points from Metacritic. It also became the 2nd most-watched show on Netflix in the U.S. in its 1st week. Of course, Netflix could not say no to such a success and renewed the show for another season in June 2021, with an official video from the cast members:

The filming for Season 2 of the series started in January 2022 and is expected to continue until July. An official release date for Shadow and Bone Season 2 has not been announced by Netflix. However, the IMDB page of Shadow and Bone shows that the 2nd season is going to air in 2022. Let’s not get too excited though, because there should also be a post-production period of the series which typically lasts from 6 to 8 months. Considering the show has a lot of special effects, this factor may elongate the arrival of the 2nd season.
So, we believe it is reasonable to think that the show is going to air in early 2023, the date could even be April 2023, as the show’s 1st season was released in April as well.

The series follows Alina Starkov who goes on a trip through the Unsea which is inhabited by monsters. When they are crossing the Unsea, Alina and Malyen are attacked by the monsters and Alina saves Malyen by displaying an incredible Grisha talent. The Grisha are a group of people with supernatural powers who can manipulate the elements. It turns out Alina can manipulate light and is called a Sun Summoner.
The leader of the Grisha, General Kirigan, takes Alina to the capital to make her start rigorous training. The pair also develops a romance as also Alina gets better at managing her abilities.

Sun Summoners are members of the Grisha who can summon and bend light. Alina is the original Sun Summoner who has ever existed. Because it is a rare power, Alina is tied to different prophecies and some even claim that she is a saint. According to one prophecy, Sun Summoner is born to destroy the Unsea (also known as the Shadow Fold).
