Heartstopper Season 2 Release Date, Trailer – Is It Canceled?

Finally, it is time to discuss one of the most anticipated releases of 2022: Heartstopper and, of course, its follow-up: Heartstopper Season 2.

As we all know Netflix is the queen of queer stories. There is no other platform like Netflix that captures the queer experience in its productions with such perfection. The platform gives a specific emphasis on inclusivity, which means almost all Netflix shows include queer characters and try to provide the best representation possible. Since Hollywood is known for its problematic depiction of queer figures for decades, many people see Netflix as a safe harbor where they can finally find themselves.

So, every new production of the platform creates an excitement among the viewers we will get to see a range of characters from various backgrounds and witness a piece of their life. The latest installment to Netflix in that respect has become Heartstopper, a teenage drama/romance series focusing on the pure love of two bots, Nick and Charlie.

The series is based on the comic novel series of Alice Oseman, who is known for her queer novels. Before, Oseman wrote acclaimed books such as Loveless and Radio Silence, both of which were highly impactful on today’s youth as they were being the voice of the queer kids who have difficulty in expressing themselves.

For instance, in Loveless, Oseman focuses on asexuality as a sexual orientation and walks us through the coming-of-age story of a young girl who is struggling to come to terms with who she is because of societal pressures. As you can see, Oseman is the number one name when it comes to tackling queer teenage issues and Heartstopper is no different than her other work. 

The 1st season of the show has just been released and it was basically perfect in adapting the charms of the comic book to the TV screen. That being said, it was very short and we need more of Heartstopper. Thus, we already started to question when will Heartstopper Season 2 be released and what to expect from it.

Heartstopper Season 2 Release Date

Unfortunately, so far Netflix remained silent on the issue. But, thankfully, based on the audience reception, we can confidently claim that there will be Season 2 and perhaps even Season 3 of the show since it was so damn good. The 1st season was based on the first two comic books of the series. Considering the fact that there are two more volumes out while the 5th one is expected to be released at the end of 2022, we can say that there are a lot of materials waiting to be adapted on the TV screen.

In Volume 3 of the comic book series, we see Charlie and Nick officially being together but struggling to come out to their friends and family since they are worried that it would be too weird for them. There is a lot of angst and gradually growing love which we cannot wait to watch.

We expect Heartstopper Season 2 to follow this exact plot and be released around April 2023. The trailer for the new season will probably be out around March 2023. We know that 5th one of the comic book series will also be the last one. But, still, we are hopeful that the Netflix show might be longer than the comic books so that we can witness the love of Nick and Charlie even more.

Heartstopper Season 2 Cast

We expect to welcome back Joe Locke as Charlie Spring; Kit Connor as Nick Nelson; Yasmin Finney as Elle Argent; William Gao as Tao Xu; and Cormac Hyde-Corrin as Harry Greene in Heartstopper Season 2 as they all made an impressive impact on us.
