We wanted to make a list of all Harry Potter movies ranked as the Harry Potter series is a global sensation unlike any other: it’s been 13 years since the last book was published, and 9 years since the last film was made, but it remains as strong as ever. This type of durability is uncommon, and it has everything to do with the quality of the tale JK Rowling set out.
But Harry Potter is more than just the books since Hollywood came calling immediately as it does with anything successful nowadays, and the 1st Harry Potter film was produced a little more than a year after Rowling’s 4th novel hit the stores. However, in another minor miracle, the Harry Potter film franchise was able to retain a level of brilliance rarely seen in film series that lasts more than one or two films, so let’s see our list of all Harry Potter movies ranked.

1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Out of all the Harry Potter movies, Prisoner of Azkaban is the best one: while the Harry Potter franchise would produce additional exceptional entries in the following years, Cuaron’s picture remains the creative pinnacle of one of the best, most diversified, and most fulfilling cinema franchises of all time. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is pure enchantment, at the risk of sounding cliche, and Azkaban is also the film in which Radcliffe, Grint, and Watson truly come into their own as performers.
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2
Perhaps the most challenging challenge of the film was establishing Snape as a hero in a single sequence as Yates, Kloves, and Alan Rickman rise to the occasion in one of the franchise’s most poignant scenes, leaving the viewer in tears for brave, beloved Snape while also solidifying Harry’s purpose.
There are so many ways Deathly Hallows 2 could’ve gone wrong, but given how well the Harry Potter filmmaking crew had done earlier, we guess it shouldn’t be a surprise that they delivered this thing with the same highest degree of quality, making Deathly Hallows 2 2nd among the Harry Potter movies ranked.
3. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Order of the Phoenix composer Nicholas Hooper returns with Half-Blood Prince to provide what is perhaps the strongest score in the franchise since John Williams’ work, sliding smoothly between two drastically disparate tones and Yates concludes the film with a suitable farewell to Hogwarts, perfectly preparing himself for the one-two punch ending, making this one of the best Harry Potter movies.
4. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
The return of Sirius Black heightens the emotional impact of the picture and enriches Harry’s development in order of the Phoenix, and this movie is definitely among the best Harry Potter movies. The film also has some of the finest Harry-Snape interactions in the franchise, and all of this culminates in a visually striking and shockingly dramatic duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore inside the Ministry of Magic.
5. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
While having the lightest tone of the four, Sorcerer’s Stone works well as a terrific addition to the Potter saga: the winning combination of charm and intelligence pervades throughout, and Columbus captures our 3 protagonists’ founding relationship, culminating in a stunning ending that allows each of them to shine, but it looks like most viewers think that the other movies were better than this very old gem.
6. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The Goblet of Fire is perhaps Rowling’s finest Potter novel, but that doesn’t imply it’s the best film, as it made it to the 6th place on our list of all Harry Potter movies ranked. Those who have read the novels may fill in the blanks in the films, and this is the case with Goblet of Fire: it’s not a horrible film, and Newell gives a charmingly British spirit to the proceedings, but it’s not as well-crafted as the other Harry Potter movies.
7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1
Book readers were dissatisfied with the rambling character of the final book’s first half, thus many anticipated a slow film adaptation of those 1st chapters, while Deathly Hallows 1 is engrossing for the first hour or so, it quickly loses steam in the 2nd half and this is owing, in part, to Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s aimless pursuit of disappearance, making it one of the worst Harry Potter movies.
8. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Chamber of Secrets is the franchise’s longest picture, and it’s also the last film to attempt to incorporate everything from the novel, and although the film isn’t awful, it’s clearly the most tedious of the four. Despite being far too lengthy and meandering in sections, Chamber of Secrets has a lot to recommend, but it is not among the best Harry Potter movies.
