Against The Ice is a Netflix film set in 2022 that stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Joe Cole. The film is based on a true story and is based on the book Two Against The Ice, which was written by real-life Ejnar Mikkelsen. In this article, we take a closer look at Against the Ice cast.
Ejnar and Iver from Against The Ice
To begin, we should discuss the story. The plot revolves around a Danish expedition to Greenland to prove that, contrary to what the US claims, the Peary Channel does not exist. Despite the fact that the expedition failed the first time, Captain Ejnar wants to try it again, and he needs a volunteer. Iver Iversen, a young, inexperienced, and naive mechanic, offers to accompany Ejnar on this adventure. Ejnar accepts Iver’s offer, despite his reluctance, and they set out on their quest. They must travel across the ice on their sleds and return to the ship “Alabama” until August before the crew departs the region.
Throughout their journey, Ejnar and Iver encounter the difficult conditions of harsh nature: they lose their dogs, they are attacked by a polar bear, they lack food… and so forth. They do, however, make it to the area where it is claimed there is a channel that separates Greenland from Denmark. Fortunately, they demonstrate that there is no channel and that Greenland is linked to Denmark. After overcoming numerous obstacles, they are finally able to return to Alabama. The crew, however, leaves the area before they arrive. So, two men in the middle of nowhere begin to hopelessly wait for someone to appear… Throughout the film, we as viewers wait impatiently for them to be rescued.
Ejnar
This film is reminiscent of one of Herman Melville’s masterpiece novels, Moby Dick. Captain Ejnar represents Captain Ahab, and Iver represents Ishmael. Ejnar, like Ahab, is obsessive and stubborn. Ejnar and Iver, like Ahab and Ishmael in the novel, struggle against nature. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was born in Denmark in 1970 and is 52 years old. He is an actor and producer. He is best known for his role as Jamie Lannister in Game of Thrones. Nikolaj also appeared in films that helped advance his career, including Nightwatch, Oblivion, and Gods of Egypt.
Nikolaj has been married to Danish singer Nukaaka Coster-Waldau for 25 years, and the couple has two daughters, Safina and Filippa.

In Against the Ice, he plays Iver Iversen, a mechanic on the ship “Alabama,” which sets sail for Greenland. He co-stars with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as one of the main characters in Against The Ice cast, leaving the other members behind to embark on an expedition to Greenland. Iversen, on the other hand, is too naive and inexperienced for this adventure.

Heida appears in Against The Ice as Naja, Ejnar’s lover who appears mostly in flashbacks and hallucinations of Ejnar as they worsen over time.
Charles Dance
Charles Dance is a 76-year-old English actor who was born in 1946. He began his career in the theatre, and he has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). He also appeared in a number of popular films and television shows, including The Imitation Game, Gosford Park, and Last Action Hero. Most of us, however, recognize him as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones. He was Jaime’s, Cersei’s, and Tyrion’s father. So, in the series, he and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau played father and son, and now they’re working on the same project, Against The Ice.
Charles Dance as Neergaard
In 1970, Dance married Joanna Haythorn, with whom he had two children. The couple divorced in 2004. Then, for four years, he dated Eleanor Doorman, with whom he had a daughter. Since 2019, Dance has been engaged to Alessandra Alma Masi, an Italian painter and film producer.

Ed Speleers as Bessel
Ed Speleers is an actor and producer of English descent. He, like Joe Cole, is 34 years old. At the age of 20, he landed the role of Eragon in the film of the same name. He also appeared in Alice Through the Looking Glass and The House That Jack Built, but he is best known for his roles in the television series Downtown Abbey as Jimmy Kent and Outlander as Stephen Bonnet, both of which are historical dramas. In Against The Ice, Ed Speleers plays Bessel, a member of the crew of Alabama.
Speleers is married to costume designer Asia Macey. The couple has two kids. They don’t discuss their personal lives in the media, so we don’t know much about Macey or when the couple married.
Sam Redford

Sam Redford is an English actor. There is no information on the internet about his birth date. We do know, however, that he is the son of hotshot actor Ian Redford. Ian appeared as Mephistopheles in Doctor Faustus, Creon in Antigone, and Alfieri in A View From The Bridge in popular plays at The Royal Exchange Manchester. Sam, his son, is best known for his roles in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The Brothers Grimsby. And then there’s The Hurt Locker. We don’t know Redford’s age, his partners, or his way of life because he lives a very low-key life.
