The television program Power Book III: Raising Kanan, an American crime drama developed by Sascha Penn, debuted on Starz on July 18, 2021. It is a precursor and Power’s 2nd offshoot.
Before it started airing, the program was renewed for a 2nd season in July 2021. On August 14, 2022, the 2nd season officially began. Before the beginning of the 2nd season, on August 11, the show was given a 3rd-season renewal.
Raising Kanan, set in the 1990s, follows Kanan Stark as he enters the drug trade in his formative years. The role was initially portrayed by executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

Patina Miller
An American actress and singer by the name of Patina Renea Miller. Miller’s breakthrough performance was as Deloris Van Cartier, a want-to-be disco diva, in Sister Act’s 2009 West End and 2011 Broadway performances, for which she received nominations for the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award, respectively. In 2013, she also played the lead role on Broadway in Pippin’s production, earning her a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. She is now playing the Witch in the Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Into the Woods, which will take place in 2022.
She is also well known for playing Commander Paylor in the Mockingjay and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay movies and for playing Daisy Grant, the lead character in the CBS political drama Madam Secretary. She has furthermore appeared in the PBS program Mercy Street (2017). Miller debuted in the 2021 season of the Starz television drama Raising Kanan as Raquel “Raq” Thomas.
Mekai Curtis
An American voice actor and actor, Mekai Matthew Curtis. His most prominent roles for Disney are Felix Shumpert in Girl Meets World, Fish in Kirby Buckets, and Paul in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, Very Bad Day, No Good. Additionally, he provided the voice of Furaha the monkey in The Lion Guard and Zack Underwood in the Disney XD comedy Milo Murphy’s Law.
Hailey Kilgore
An American actress and singer by the name of Hailey Frances Kilgore. Kilgore made her debut in the role of Ti Moune in the Broadway version of the one-act coming-of-age musical Once on This Island. The 19-year-old was one of the youngest candidates for the Best Actress in a Leading Role in the Musical category of the 2018 Tony Awards for this performance.
Hailey Frances Kilgore was adopted as soon as she was born in Humble, Texas. In New York, she pursued her education at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. In 2015, she appeared in a Broadway revival of Once on This Island.
Malcolm Mays
Malcolm Michael Mays, an American actor, singer, and filmmaker, was born on February 14, 1990. With the help of producer Todd Black, Sony Pictures’ Gary Martin, and others, Mays co-wrote, co-directed, and produced his short film when he was seventeen. Mays is the famous co-founder of the Crips gang Stanley “Tookie” Williams’ nephew.
Malcolm Mays starred in the 2013 film Life of a King, co-starring alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. The New York Times printed a front-page article, “Based on a true story,” telling May’s story and accomplishments. As Kanan’s uncle Lou Lou in the STARZ drama series Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Mays has been given a regular series role in 2021.
Joey Badass
Jo-Vaughn Joey Badass, born Virginie Scott on January 20, 1995, is an American rapper, singer, and actress. He is a founding hip-hop group Pro Era member and a Brooklyn, New York City resident. Together, they have put out three mixtapes in addition to his many solo endeavors.
To widespread praise and fame, Joey Badass released his debut mixtape, 1999, in June 2012. Rejex followed this in September 2012 and Summer Knights in July 2013. B4.Da.$$, his first studio album, was released in January 2015. He made his television debut in 2016 on the Mr. Robot series on the USA Network. All-Amerikkkan Badass and 2000, his second and third studio albums, were released in April 2017 and July 22, 2022, respectively.
London Brown
London Brown was an American actor, dancer, comedian, radio host, and impressionist. Brown, born in Los Angeles, California, is most recognized for his role in the HBO series “Ballers” (2015–2019). As of 2021, Brown plays Marvin Thomas in the STARZ Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
Brown won the Best International Comedian prize at the 2013 Black Comedy Awards in the UK. On Fuse’s The Hustle, Brown made his television debut as “D.” In his capacity as a stand-up comedian, Brown has performed alongside several musicians.
