1. Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado (2020)
This is a superbly done examination of Walter Mercado’s life and career, providing an intimate view of the mystery, enchantment, and majesty of the main character. He is an enigmatic, quirky, yet larger-than-life personality who commanded any setting he was given. This film shows how he effortlessly captivated crowds and individuals worldwide, making it one of the best LGBTQ movies on Netflix.
His great sense of humor was his key to survival and you can sense the sparkle and splendor in every scene of this amazing movie. The film is a love letter to Walter, written with the most meticulous and aesthetic touches, and it simply sparkles from start to the last second. This is a fantastic tribute that is a must-see by the LGBT community.
2. A Secret Love (2020)
A Secret Love’s tale is incredible and heartfelt as the characters lived their lives in a way that was unlawful at the time, but their passion and devotion to each other were what saved them. It is a movie about discovering love and remaining faithful to each other for more than 70 years, making it one of the best LGBTQ movies on Netflix. Not to mention Terry playing in the women’s major league baseball during WWII which was amazing.
The movie is really worth seeing since it is about a long-lasting love; gay or straight, it is extremely unusual, especially when they have conquered so many hurdles during their life together.
3. The Half of It (2020)
This film is an absolutely incredible master lesson, making it one of the best LGBTQ movies on Netflix. The Half of It, in all of its complexity and depths, is a product and beauty of its time. When it comes to the film’s direction, Alice’s Wu is by far the ace-queen as each and every shot had depth and purpose to it.
We’re given a gorgeous mixed piece from the start and throughout the film, we’re given subtle tiny visual anecdotes to the piece when we see Ellie and Paul or Ellie and Aster positioned in a manner where they seem to fit or divide. Furthermore, each character is engulfed in their own reality, making it a worthwhile movie to watch.
4. Circus of Books (2019)
This film will truly speak to you if you are a member of the LGBT community or have friends from the community, so everyone should see this film. Circus of Books is about a business dealing with porn and even though it dealt in hard-core porn, this business was actually rather benign because people went there to meet other people who shared their interests, so it was a social and genuine meeting spot.
5. Pariah (2011)
Pariah explores every aspect of the main heroine’s life as external factors press in on her, such as family, friends, first love, and school. However, Adepero Oduye’s portrayal of the main character demonstrates not just the turmoil, but also the beauty that she must discover inside herself. This film is quite moving and highly worth seeing. According to the official description, the movie tells the tale of Teenage Alike who lives with her parents in Brooklyn and, Alike, a lesbian, discreetly embraces her identity, making it one of the best LGBTQ movies on Netflix.
6. What Keeps You Alive (2018)
What Keeps You Alive is one of those films with a deadly story surprise. If you’re a romantic at heart, you know that nothing beats having a relationship and having somebody to share the rest of your life with. Imagine spending a romantic trip with the love of your life in a cabin in the middle of nowhere but this person turns out to be a monster who throws you down a cliff to die. This is the plot of What Keeps You Alive, and you should definitely check it out.
