Do you think the world would be a better place if God suddenly came into the world and told you what he wanted? Or let me ask that in another way. If he brought his divine justice to the world, would there be no crime in the world? The beloved Netflix series Hellbound, which takes this concept in another way, is awaited for Hellbound season 2. After the first season, the show left the audience with many questions. Here are all the details about Hellbound season 2, so far.
Hellbound Netflix Season 2 Details
The first season of Hellbound, directed by Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan), ended with dozens of question marks. Even though we feel like the series is halfway done, no official news has been announced about Hellbound season 2. So, nothing is certain, but we can still talk about what we could expect from the new season if it happens. So what is the plot of Hellbound Season 2?
In the first season, we see an angel-like creature that suddenly appears and foretells people when their death comes in a few seconds maybe in years. When the time comes, 3 devilish giant creatures appear and kill the person brutally, taking the soul of the victim to Hell.
In the final scenes of the first season, the burnt body of Park Jeong-ja, whose devilish execution was utilized by The New Truth Society to scare people to support them, revives after five years of the execution. This plot twist has brought many questions to the minds. Is there a purpose behind this woman’s return? Are there other people who return? Maybe these returns will be a new hope for humankind. Whatever the answer is, this resurrection (or resurrections) will lead to a significant turning point in Hellbound season 2.
Another question is about the baby. We can consider the series as two parts. The series is six episodes. Episodes 1-3 are based on an investigator who tries to find out these mysterious conditions, The New Truth Society, and a righteous lawyer. Park Jeong-ja’s story is in this part. In the second part of the show, so 4-6, we jump forward in time 5 years later. Then the so-called ”angel” appears out of nowhere again and foretells the death time to a baby. When the time strikes, before the demonic monster kills the newborn, the baby’s parents sacrifice themselves to protect their baby.
So what will this change? On the contrary of the New Truth Society’s discourse, an innocent baby is decreed to be sent to Hell. So, sentences are not connected to sins, etc. This gives us the idea that the victims are chosen at random.
We can say with certainty that if one thing is certain, Hellbound season 2 will give us many answers and breathtaking moments.
While there are so many unanswered questions, the Hellbound season 2 release date is another issue of curiosity.
The first season aired on Nov. 19, 2021. There are numerous allegations about the subject but there is no official news. Yet, a sequel is awaited due to its opened-door season final. Hellbound season 2 is believed to air in late 2022 by fans. However, other estimates suggest that the release date will reach 2023.
Since there is no news, no official trailer has been published for the second season. Yet, you can watch the Hellbound official trailer right below.
What is Hellbound about?
Hellbound is established on the same-named webtoon. It’s set in a world that a fortuneteller creature prophesies people when to die. When the time comes, three demonic creatures come and slay a person whose sentence has been decreed and consign the soul of the victim to Hell. While these incidents happen, chaos begins rule to the world and some people take advantage of people’s fears. While a new religion is rising, people are trying to survive in this new chaotic society.
Although some say that this series is a criticism of religion, the show does not question religion, it does not question a belief, it does not answer anything, and only asks questions. It asks its audience a ton of questions and gets them thinking.
