Salma Hayek Pinault, born September 2, 1966, in Mexico City, is a Mexican-American actress and producer. She made her acting debut in the Mexican telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) and the romantic drama El Callejón de Los Milagros (1995), for which she was nominated for an Ariel Award. She quickly rose to prominence in Hollywood, appearing in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), and Dogma (2001).   

Salma Hayek Jiménez was born in the Mexican city of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. Sami Hayek Domnguez, her father, is of Lebanese descent. His ancestors are from the Lebanon city of Baabdat, which In 2015, Salma and her father came to promote her movie Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet. His firm sells industrial equipment and works for an oil company in Mexico; he once ran for mayor of Coatzacoalcos. Diana Jiménez Medina, her mother, is an opera singer and talent scout of Spanish descent. During a visit to Madrid in 2015, Hayek described herself as fifty-fifty Lebanese and fifty-fifty Spanish, stating that her grandmother/maternal great-grandparents were from Spain. Sami, her younger brother, is a furniture designer.

1. Frida 

Hayek’s passion project on the renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo became one of her most recognizable roles. Frida was also her most honored, having been nominated for 46 awards globally. Salma was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Actress.

2. Desperado 

Salma Hayek plays Carolina, the no-nonsense bookshop owner who supports El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas) in his war against Bucho and his gang, in the role that placed her on the map for most fans. Desperado was a smash hit that established Salma’s career outside of Mexico and shot Antonio Banderas to stardom.

3. Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard 

In The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Hayek plays Sonia Kincaid, the wife of Darius Kincaid, one of the world’s most prominent hitmen. Darius and Michael Bryce (a successful private bodyguard who has fallen on hard times due to Kincaid) are compelled to collaborate to fight a familiar opponent. Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Gary Oldman all feature in this entertaining action comedy. In 2021, a sequel was released.  

4. Once Upon a Time in Mexico 

Once Upon a Time in Mexico is the sequel to Desperado and the third and final installment in Robert Rodriguez’s “Mexico” trilogy. Hayek reprises her role as Carolina, the wife of Antonio Banderas’ character, “El Mariachi.” This picture features an all-star ensemble that includes Johnny Depp, Mickey Rourke, Eva Mendez, Danny Trejo, Enrique Iglesias, Cheech Marin, and Willem Dafoe.

5. Bandidas 

In Bandidas, a Western action-comedy set in the 1890s, Salma Hayek and Penélope Cruz create a Mexican bank-robbing duet. Sara Sandoval, an affluent and well-educated woman, is played by Salma. When her father is murdered, she seeks vengeance by seizing land from impoverished Mexicans whose estates were seized from them by baron Tyler Jackson (Dwight Yoakam).  

6. From Dusk Till Dawn 

More than one person was baffled by Salma Hayek’s acting in the 1996 action horror picture From Dusk to Dawn. The film, directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Juliette Lewis, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, and others, gave the then-29-year-old actress a platform. Hayek’s sexy snake dance was the sequence that launched her career and established her as one of the industry’s brilliant Latinas 24 years ago.

7. Grown Ups 

The narrative, which is basically “The Big Chill” with humor about farts and bunions, revolves around five boyhood friends gathering for the burial of the basketball coach who led them to a victory in 1978. Lenny (Adam Sandler) is now a primary Hollywood agent married to a fashion designer (Salma Hayek Pinault) and has rude, pampered children. Salma Hayek’s brilliant acting also affected many people.  

8. House of Gucci 

Hayek, who was later included in the film’s cast, admires the observer like his other roles. House of Gucci is a 2021 American historical criminal drama film directed by Ridley Scott that is based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. The film depicts Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) and Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) as their love affair turns into a battle for control of the Italian fashion house Gucci. Other cast members include Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Jack Huston, Salma Hayek, and Al Pacino.

9. Ladies Night Fools Rush In 

The vitality of the performers, mainly Salma Hayek, is what makes “Fools Rush In” interesting. Previously, she was usually featured as the partner of gunslingers in action thrillers (“Desperado,” “From Dusk Till Dawn”); now, she shows a comedic zestfulness. She is one of those ladies who are sexier in motion than in repose, sexier talking than listening, and should avoid purely cosmetic parts.  

10. Like a Boss 

We cannot say Salma Hayek’s performances are awful, but at the bottom of our list, you can see her work in Like A Boss. Like a Boss is a 2020 American comedy film directed by Miguel Arteta and written by Sam Pitman and Adam Cole-Kelly, with Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, and Salma Hayek in the lead roles. The narrative revolves around two friends who struggle to reclaim control of their cosmetics firm from an industry behemoth.
